It’s not your daddy’s Q&A. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A and that is all the people need to know. I’m Doug. Let’s roll.
Brock Lesnar versus Gunther was allegedly planned for Wrestlemania. Now that Brock is out of the picture, who should Gunther face at Mania?
Gunther is the type of wrestler who could probably have a good match against anyone, but the first name that comes to mind for me right now is Sheamus. They’ve done it before, yes, but it was a tremendous match and one that I have no problem seeing happen again. Throw a stipulation into the match like if Sheamus doesn’t win, he retires, and it’s instant main event level that any true wrestling fan would love to see.
Bron Breakker stated that the main roster is now his “home”. Looks like he’s been called up. Thoughts?
Good for him and congratulations. Breakker is a talented and charismatic wrestler with a great pedigree and history. He’ll do well on the main roster. I’d love to see him and Drew go at it for a bit, as well as Bron and Kevin Owens. There are so many options available for Bron on the main roster, I’m very interested in seeing how this develops.
Ken Anderson, aka Mr. Kennedy, said recently that if WWE asked him to do a spot in the Royal Rumble, he’d consider it. Thoughts?
I’m sure that he would be open to it, but honestly, what has Kennedy, aka Ken Anderson done recently or since leaving TNA in 2016? One match in the NWA, which he had to forfeit because he was not medically cleared to wrestle, and some announcing work. He’d be an interesting name to bring back to WWE for a Rumble spot or cameo, but I honestly don’t see it happening.
Buff Bagwell versus RVD. Who wins?
I like Buff and he’s the stuff, but RVD would take the win in this encounter if it were to ever happen.
Do you think Bruce Prichard will address the Vince lawsuit on his podcast with Conrad Thompson? If so, what do you think he’ll say?
I don’t think Prichard will address it if it can be avoided and Conrad doesn’t bring it up first. Given his role in WWE and long-time loyalty and devotion to Vince McMahon, I’m sure that Prichard is walking on eggshells right now and being careful with every word, trying to stay under the radar. Prichard isn’t going to comment.
What’s your early Wrestlemania 40 prediction, will Cody Rhodes put an end to Roman Reigns’ title reign? Yes or No?
Right now, my gut says that yes, Cody will end up wrestling Reigns at Mania and will finish the story.
CM Punk tore his triceps’ at the Rumble, will be out for 4-6 months, and will be missing Wrestlemania. So what’s next for Punk? Is he injury prone and should he just go ahead and retire? Thoughts?
What’s next is having the necessary surgery, doing rehab, and coming back at SummerSlam to engage in a nice feud with Drew McIntyre, if he’s still part of WWE. What I’d like to see though is have Punk come to television every so often, sit in on commentary with the announcers, and play the mind games with Drew as he heals. Keep Punk in the mix. If he can’t wrestle, just let him talk and stay present in the eyes of the fans. Yes, it does seem to be that he might be injury-prone. I hope not, but it seems that way. He’s too good a talker and too valuable to WWE to just toss to the side and retire though. Punk doesn’t need to wrestle every night to be a prominent part of the story. Let him do the promos, tell the story, and only work the big events. It works for Roman and it can prolong the career of Punk as well.
So Michael Cole & Pat McAfee are the new announce team for RAW. So who does that leave for Smackdown? Corey Graves & Wade Barrett perhaps? Maybe CM Punk until he recovers from his injuries? Thoughts?
As I mentioned before, I’d love to see CM Punk show up occasionally on RAW as he recovers from his injuries to play mind games with Drew McIntyre and keep his face on television. And of course, being a guest announcer works well to do just that. But full-time? No, I don’t think so. With Punk, less is more. It was revealed earlier today that in fact, Corey Graves and Wade Barrett will be the new announcing team for Smackdown, with Graves moving into the lead announcer position, while Barrett continues to do the color commentator spot. It’s an interesting pairing as both tend to favor the heels, but it could be very good. We’ll just have to wait and see.
With CM Punk officially out of the #WrestleMania card, who do you honestly see facing Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship on the show now?
Maybe it’s Drew? Maybe it’s Cody? Maybe it’s Gunther? Hell, maybe it’s Sami Zayn? I love the way they’ve built on the countless number of possibilities for this match and laid out so many options. Maybe it’s Damian Priest, cashing in the MITB contract for a main-event spot at Wrestlemania? I have no idea who will end up as Seth’s opponent, but I’m hoping it’s Drew.
Would the late Bruiser Brody have been a perfect addition to the original ECW?
On paper, I would say yes, but something inside me says that he and Paul Heyman wouldn’t have been able to work together for long, nor do I think Brody would have gotten on well with most of the original ECW locker room. I may be wrong, but my spider sense says that there would be too many issues between Brody and the others to work well or last very long.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up for now. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for sneaky TCW wrestlers ambusing people with gang attacks and I’ll see you at the matches.
