You have the questions and I have the answers. I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. And that is all the people need to know. Let’s roll.
Larry Zbyszko, Tito Santana, and Lex Luger versus Greg Valentine, Rick Steiner, and Buff Bagwell. Who wins?
Where the hell did this match come from? Six all-time greats, but two very unlikely teams. It’d be a fun match to see and to see who turns on who first would be the biggest factor. But assuming that no one turned on anyone else and we got a conclusion to this match, I’ll go with Zbyszko, Tito, and Lex as the winners.
Aside from Howard Finkel, is Samantha Irvine the best ring announcer that WWF/E has ever had? I think an argument can be made that she is. Thoughts?
An argument can be made, but it’d be wrong. She’s good and getting better all the time, but so long as Lilian Garcia’s name is in the mix, for me anyhow, the best that Irvine can be is third best. And if you figure WCW Announcers into the mix, Dave Penzer, Rhubabrg Jones, and Gary Michael Cappetta all have to be in the argument as well.
Which wrestler had the most wasted potential?
Buddy Landell. He was so good in that ring and on the mic and had all the potential in the world, but his demons and own actions fought against him and he was only barely able to scratch the surface before losing the battle against them. Buddy should have been one of the biggest stars of his era, but instead, he’s the biggest “What if?”. Very sad!
Samoa Joe says that he’d be glad to give Sting a shot at the AEW World Championship. Should AEW book this match?
It’s a nice gesture and would probably do well in the ratings, but Sting has only wrestled tag team matches since coming to AEW and there’s a reason for that. He’s 64 years old and the thought of a high-impact singles match against someone as physical as Joe scares me. In theory, it’s a good idea. In reality, not so much. Sting needs to stick to the tag matches as he rides out these last few months. Having the match take place would, even with all the smoke and mirrors, would just leave a bad mark on the careers of both men.
Samoa Joe versus Gunther. Who wins?
This match would be awesome. And yes, my bias is showing. The two men would beat the holy hell out of each other and Gunther should win.
TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace says that she’d welcome a challenge for her Knockouts Championship from WWE’s Bianca Belair. Should WWE and TNA make this happen?
It sounds like it would be a good match and benefit both TNA and WWE so why not? Triple H and Scott D’Amore, make it happen.
Thoughts on Rene Goulet, aka Sgt. Jacques Goulet.
Most of what I remember of Rene Goulet was what I heard of him working as an agent behind the scenes at WWE and during the time he briefly worked for Jim Crockett Promotions in the late 70s and early 80s under the name Sgt. Jacques Goulet. A prominent wrestler who got a good response from the crowd, but was used more to put over the stars than anything else. He was towards the end of his in-ring career and winding down as an active wrestler, but had some good matches and was always entertaining to watch. I think maybe I’ve seen him live two or three times at Crockett shows. A very memorable character and wrestler.
RKO (Randy Orton) versus The Diamond Cutter (DDP) versus The Kanyon Kutter (Chris Kanyon) versus The Chart Buster (Disco Inferno). Who had the best finisher?
It has to be between DDP and Randy Orton for this one. All of these finishers are essentially the same move, but each person put their spin on the move and made it their own. So what’s better? Feeling the BANG? Or is it the RKO from out of nowhere? I’ll go with Randy Orton on this one.
“Daddy Magic” Matt Menard just announced on Twitter that his new finisher is the Diamond Cutter. QT Marshall commented that DDP taught him that move and that Mernard using it now is “bullshit!” and that he hasn’t been gone from AEW for a month yet and Menard is stealing his moves. Thoughts?
What is there to think? QT isn’t in AEW anymore and it seems that everyone has a version of The Stunner going on anyhow. From how Menard responded to Marshall’s tweet, it wasn’t his call anyhow and the decision came from someone else up higher on the totem pole in AEW. I understand Marshall getting mad, but it’s not a big deal. Get over it already.
So does Brock Lesnar retire now or does he lay low, let the heat die down, and return to WWE in a few months?
It depends on how the potential lawsuit against Vince goes and how the management of TKO decides to react, but in my opinion, Brock will not be back in WWE. Not in six months and not ever. He’s damaged goods and, deserved or not, there will be consequences. Brock is too good and I think he may be able to go to Japan and work, or hell, even take a paycheck from Tony Khan and AEW in a year or so, but so far as WWE goes, my feeling is he’s through.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for sneak ambushes by the wrestlers of Titan Championship Wrestling and I’ll see you at the matches.
