Happy Valentine’s Day and here is my Valentine’s Day gift to you. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Now get up close and hang on because we’re in for a wild ride. Let’s roll.
Thoughts on Roddy Piper’s WCW run?
It was an interesting time in that Piper certainly added excitement and chaos to the roster and activities in WCW, but the physical skills were on the decline and Piper physically wasn’t anywhere near where he had been ten years earlier. So we got the promos and intrigue, but he wasn’t quite where he should have been to walk the walk. It was still cool though. After all, it was Roddy Piper.
How many times will The Rock wrestle in 2024?
If he’s fortunate enough to make it through Mania without any serious injuries, I’ll go with probably three times total. Once at Mania, a tag team match with Roman, and once more to wrap things up.
Will The Rock have a storyline with Cody Rhodes similar to Vince McMahon vs. Steve Austin?
It’s an interesting idea, but I don’t think the Rock has the time available to make it work, plus there would always be the two General Managers and Triple H around to keep it from getting too big. So I would say no to that potential story.
Will The Rock cost Roman Reigns the undisputed WWE Universal title at Wrestlemania 40?
He may stop the rest of the Bloodline from getting involved in the match, but whether Roman wins or loses, that’s on Roman.
Is women’s wrestling better than it was in the past?
Absolutely. The women today, especially in the WWE, are often far better than the men, especially when Asuka, Rhea, Charlotte, Bayley, and Becky are involved in the match. Women’s wrestling has greatly improved over the past few years.
What do you think about squash matches?
They often have a purpose, especially to get new talents over and build characters. I don’t want to see every match as a squash. Modern wrestling has me spoiled. But I don’t have anything against the occasional squash match and I get why they happen.
How good would Sean “X-Pac” Waltman be in today’s wrestling era?
Sean Waltman was often said to be ahead of his time and he would do well in today’s wrestling environment. Waltman is/was just that damn good.
Former Carolina Panther QB Cam Newton has allegedly spoken to AEW about making some appearances. Would you be interested in seeing Newton in a wrestling ring?
Newton was one hell of a QB when he first started with the Panthers and is a charismatic guy. A little bit odd at times, but he reminds of a bit of Dennis Rodman in his antics and behavior. I think he would do well making a transition to professional wrestling if that’s what he wanted to try. He’s a very physical guy and a great athlete and he understands being a character. I’d like to see this happen.
Bruiser Brody versus Ravishing Rick Rude. Who wins?
Brody was the beast, but Rude was simply ravishing. If you don’t believe him, just ask him and he’ll tell you. I’ll go with Ravishing Rick Rude for this one.
In celebration of Black History Month, who is your favorite wrestler from the back community?
In today’s era of professional wrestling, I’d have to say either R-Truth or Xavier Woods. Both are excellent performers and characters who never fail to entertain. Of all time though, there is only one and it’s the Big Cat Ernie Ladd. From the taped thumb to the great promos, Ladd was an incredible wrestler and talker. A true legend in every sense of the word.
