It’s not your Daddy’s wrestling Q&A. You have questions and I have the answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A and that is all the people need to know. I’m Doug and let’s roll.
Assuming that Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre both walk out of Wrestlemania as the new world champions, who do you possibly see being their first feuds set up for after Mania?
For Cody, I’m thinking of some rematches against Roman, and then maybe Jimmy Uso and SoloAkaoi. Once the Bloodline-related matches are through, Randy Orton is the next guy in line. As for Drew, I think Sami Zayn would be on top of the list, maybe Gunther, and if he gets through all of that, the returning CM Punk.
Given that Priest, even with. Punk’s injury and Rollins’s injury, is still nowhere near feeling credible as a potential World Champion and looks more likely to fail when he does cash in (not supported backstage?). Do you think it’s time to stop Money In The Bank?
I’m mixed about this because every time I’m ready to just shelf the concept, we get a great cash-in or moment, and a new star is made. I don’t agree that Priest isn’t credible. It just takes one match and one moment and all of the craziness of the past few months would be washed away and forgotten. Money In The Bank? Let’s keep it around for a while longer.
If you had to trade a current champion each way, one from AEW to WWE, and one from WWE to AEW, who would you pick?
To AEW, I’d send current WWE Women’s Champion Iyo Sky. And from AEW to WWE, I’d send the AEW Trios Champions, The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn. Let Billy join his former DX partners in an executive position while the Acclaimed have great tag matches in NXT.
Tommy Dreamer has been announced as the new Head of Creative for TNA. Thoughts?
Meltzer reported this, but Dreamer himself came out and said that it’s not true. Dreamer is a member of the Creative Team and continues to be so, but as of this writing, Sunday night, no one has been named yet as the head of the TNA Creative. So Meltzer was wrong, as usual, and this story continues to develop.
On AEW Rampage, Sammy Guevera botched a splash and ended up giving Jeff Hardy a broken nose and possible concussion. Is this just a case of “Accidents happen!”, or is Guevera just careless in the ring? Or both?
It’s a little bit of both. A wrestling friend of mine watched and noted that Hardy, while waiting to take the splash, continued to face forward when he should have turned his head slightly to protect his face, just in case. He didn’t do that and well, accidents happen. As for Sammy, he does tend to get a little reckless in the ring, and even though he’s probably done this move two hundred times, coming in rusty after a long spell in between matches, it was a risky venture. No one can only wrestle maybe ten matches a year at most and stay sharp and crisp in the ring, especially with high spots and the fast pace these guys like to move. So ring rust for Sammy and not properly positioning himself for Jeff. Unfortunately, Jeff got hurt as a result.
Several TNA talents, according to Sean Ross Sapp, sent a letter to TNA Management complaining about the removal of Scott D’Amore. Thoughts?
The employees are not happy and I’m sure that not allowing any questions at the initial meeting following D’Amore’s dismissal didn’t help. Hopefully, a solution can be reached and the wrestlers and Anthem management can get back on the same page again. Right now though, I’m not sure.
Thoughts on Johnny B. Badd (Marc Mero)?
Do you want to know a secret? I was a fan of Johnny B. Badd in WCW. Yes, he was over-the-top and goofy, but he was also very entertaining. The matches weren’t great, but the character was awesome. When he moved to WWE under his real name of Marc Mero, I wasn’t impressed because everything that made him stand out, at least until Sable was added to the picture, had been stripped away. He was just another guy then. Everything I’ve heard of Mero though, and every interview I’ve seen, he comes across as a good dude. The whole deal with Sable was just wrong. I still like Johnny B. Badd though. He’s a bad man!
Rhea Ripley versus Michelle McCool. Who wins?
McCool might be Mrs. Undertaker now, but she was just kind of bland as a character during her wrestling days. She didn’t stand out and was just kind of there. As for Rhea, she’s a strong mix of a good wrestler, a great character, and one of the best of the current era. And we all know that Mami is always on top. Rhea wins.
Who is the most poorly booked talent in AEW right now?
There are so many to choose from so it’s hard to pick just one name or talent. I’ll go with the easy answer here with Wardlow. He was so strong and hot just a year ago and now, he’s just an afterthought at best. Start-stop booking with long gaps between appearances just doesn’t work.
If AEW were to do an Inferno match, what would you book as the matchup?
Jon Moxley versus Darby Allin. Both have that masochistic streak going and love to bleed and get hurt. Setting each other on fire would be like a moment of heaven for those two deranged individuals. Moxley and Darby for sure. Where is the can of gasoline? Time to light that fire.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for those two crazy dudes from No Chasers, JHoody and Drunk Dane. You can learn more about them at the site. I’ll see you at the matches.
