It’s time to do it one more time. I’m your Guiding Light and party host, Doug. This is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s roll.
Alex Hammerstone has signed with TNA. Thoughts?
I know who Hammerstone is, but not much more than that because I don’t follow MLW all that much. That being said, he’s got a good reputation from what I have heard and should probably be a good addition to the TNA roster.
According to Tony Khan, the ‘Meat Madness’ match had to be canceled due to “multiple wrestlers slated for AEW Revolution’s Meat Madness match out injured”. Yet the replacement match, the ‘All-Star 8-Man Scramble” features all three wrestlers who were booked for the ‘Meat Madness’ match (Lance Archer, Wardlow, Powerhouse Hobbs) plus a few other additions (Jericho, Hook, Brian Cage, and two others to be announced). Something doesn’t sound right here. Thoughts?
Tony is just talking without saying anything, as usual. The Meat Madness match would only get three wrestlers on the event, while the Eight Man Scramble gets five more additional wrestlers added to the show. The more, the merrier, right?
What if Allen turns on Sting? It could be the heel turn of a lifetime.
It could be, but since Sting won’t be able to get revenge, what would be the point? Every action should have a reaction and this one wouldn’t except for that momentary pop. It’s a bad booking, 101.
There is talk of John Cena making an appearance at Wrestlemania 40 for WWE. If Cena is there, what should his role be for the biggest show of the year?
Considering that Cena is currently filming Peacemaker, I doubt he’d be allowed to get physical or have a match, so with that in mind, I’ve had him show up as ‘the Host’, or even as a guest referee for one of the matches. Cena is too big a name to not use if he’s available.
Rocky Johnson & Tony Atlas versus Sting & Lex Luger. Who wins?
While Rocky and Atlas made history as the first black WWE Tag Team Champions, they weren’t that good as a team in the ring. Lex and Sting would win.
Lou Thesz versus Danny Hodge. Legit shoot! Who’s your pick?
I just finished listening to an old Ole Anderson shoot where he spoke about how tough Lou Thesz was at 86 years old. Thesz was a legit shooter and could hurt someone in many different ways. But that being said, the stories and reputation of Hodge speak for themselves. Danny Hodge would win.
Has there ever been a story, from any era, that you were very interested in, and then it just vanished and was dropped, never to be seen or referenced again?
The Manilla Folder with Dusty Rhodes, Baby Doll & Larry Zbyszko is the first one that came to mind for me. For weeks, Baby Doll would come on TV with a Manilla Folder that allegedly contained pictures that she was blackmailing Dusty with. It was built up for several weeks as Dusty was set to feud with Zbyszko, and then it was just dropped without explanation. I still wonder what was in that folder. The other that comes to mind is a guy in Crockett named Enforcer Luciano. Luciano came in to go after a bounty on the head of Blackjack Mulligan. He showed up on TV and talked about steel implants in his side and he even chewed on a lightbulb. And then he just vanished like a thief in the night, never to be seen or mentioned again. From what I understand, he was just a bad wrestler in the ring and Crockett didn’t realize just how bad until he had already been hired and had delivered that first promo on TV. I found the character different and interesting and always wondered where he went too.
Should Mike Jones, aka Virgil, get a posthumous induction into the WWE Hall of Fame this year?
I would say yes to this. He deserves it.
Tony Khan said that Miro was “not available” for the Revolution PPV. Miro revealed on X that he’s been medically cleared and he’s “Sorry he wasn’t aware of it!”. Thoughts?
I’ve heard many disgruntled wrestlers talk about the lack of communication between the office and the wrestlers. If you’re not one of the bigger names, they tend to forget about or ignore you. Fuego Del Sol has mentioned this. Josh Alexander mentioned this. And now, Miro say it. Miro probably shouldn’t have said that on X, but Tony should know the status of his wrestlers, so both men are at fault here.
Has Austin Theory become “stale”? What should WWE do to get this man over with the fans again?
Put him on television and allow him to cut promos and win matches, be it in singles action or partnered with Grayson Waller. Use Theory as Vince did last year and he’ll be over like Rover. Believe that!
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up for now. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
