It’s time to catch up on another edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A as I wait for my clothes to finish drying. I’m your party host and guiding light, Doug. Let’s talk pro wrestling. Let’s roll.

I heard a rumor that Lia Maivia may be part of the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame inductees. Thoughts?

She’s the Rock’s grandmother, as well as a long-time promoter. The Rock is using his influence to do something nice for his Grandma. While I haven’t heard this made official as of yet, it’s a nice little gesture. I can think of many others that I’d rather see inducted first, but I’m not criticizing her or the Rock if this happens.

Mercedes Mone recently said that she thinks Bayley’s match with Iyo Sky should headline Night One of Wrestlemania. Do you agree?

While it’d be a nice honor for Bayley, we’re talking about a show with Rock & Roman versus Cody & Seth on the card. There is no comparison as to which match should be the main event in this situation.

Larry Zbyszko versus Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Who wins?

Both men were primarily always heels so they never had the chance to wrestle each other. It’d be an interesting match as both men were more about the psychology and mind games more than anything else. I think Larry was the better actual in-ring wrestler, but Jake would give him a good run for the money and keep Larry frustrated. This one would end in a DQ finish with Jake getting the nod.

Muhammad Ali is being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024. Thoughts?

One of the greatest boxers of all time, plus he’s been a big part of wrestling history and the business going back nearly forever, be it the match against Inoki, appearances in Mid-South and WCW, the Collision in Korea event, and appearing at the first Wrestlemania. He deserves the honor.

What would you want to ask Eddie Kingston?

I honestly can not think of anything that I’d want to ask him. Probably just a, “How you doing?”, at most. Eddie just doesn’t do anything for me.

How would you rank Adam Copeland’s run in AEW so far on a scale of 1-10?

It started as kind of “Eh!”, and has fizzled out since then. Adam versus Christian had potential, but now, in AEW, he’s just another guy. I’ll give it a “5” at best.

TMZ is reporting that CJ Perry (Lana) and Miro (Rusev) have separated after 7+ years of marriage. Thoughts?

Wrestling is a tough business for any couple and given the ups and downs of both their careers over the past several years, including different companies, bad storylines, Perry making out with Bobby Lashley on TV, and life in general, I’d expect they’ve had it rougher than most. Shit happens. Life goes on and sometimes, hard decisions have to be made. I wish the best to both of them.

What do you think Mariah May’s potential is in AEW?

So long as she’s in AEW, I don’t see much potential. She’s an attractive woman and pairing her with Toni Storm could help her as a wrestler and character, but given the level of competition in AEW, as well as the lackluster booking of the Women’s Division, I don’t see her growing much or elevating much more from beyond where she is now. Six months from now, we’ll be saying “Whatever happened to…?”. Sad, but true.

Pedro Morales versus Jon Moxley. Who wins?

Moxley would bleed a lot and it’d be a far better match than most might expect, but Pedro would take the victory in my opinion. He was just a far better wrestler. Not as charismatic to be honest, but better in the ring.

So it’s Sami Zayn versus Gunther at Wrestlemania for the Intercontinental Championship. Thoughts?

Given the ending of the Sami Zayn match against Chad Gable, plus the backlash, I’m kind of expecting to see it become a Triple Threat match instead with Gunther defending against both Zayn and Gable. But be it a singles match or a triple threat, it will be a good match. I have no problems with it.
