It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. You have questions and I have answers. Let’s roll.
Your current picks for Mr & Ms MITB 2024:
Money in the Bank will take place in July 2024 in Ontario, Canada, which is the same place WWE was last night and where Rhea Ripley was forced to vacate her Women’s World Championship, so if the timing works out and Rhea is somehow able to be medically cleared by then, she should be the one to make her comeback, win the MITB contract, and get her title back. I doubt we’ll be that lucky though so my other options are, for Ms. MITB, how about Chelsea Green? And for the men’s MITB contract, imagine the heat if Dom Mysterio held that briefcase. Those would be my top picks.
Should Bron Breakker use the Steiner name on the main roster?
Maybe at some point, but he doesn’t need it right now and it getting over fine on his own merits. Maybe at some point like Mania or SummerSlam, as he challenges for the World or WWE Championship titles, he could do the name change, but as for now, he’s fine as he is.
Nikki Garcia (Bella) says she was close to calling Tony Khan and committing to AEW after being inspired by Mercedes Mone’s debut promo. Thoughts?
Nikki just sees her former rival making big dollars and cashing in on her former popularity and wants one of those big money contracts. Maybe at one point, it would have mattered for AEW, but as things are now, she wouldn’t make a difference anywhere that matters. I’m sure that if she’s serious, her brother-in-law, Bryan Danielson, can help her get a contract.
Tony Khan was asked if “WWE came calling to you to do, not even necessarily a collaborative show, but just share talent, share promotion, would you consider AEW to be open for business with WWE?” Khan responded by stating: “It’s an interesting thought. It would depend on the circumstances.” Thoughts?
Tony would cream himself if WWE even returned his phone calls and would jump at any chance to do some co-promotional work with the largest and most successful wrestling company in the world. He’s trying to play it cool because he knows it’s doubtful it would ever happen, but we all know he would be slobbering up to Nick Khan and Triple H so quickly if they just sneezed in his direction, it’d be like Yokozuna, One Man Gang, and the McGuire Twins at the all-you-can-eat Steak & Shrimp buffet.
Who would be the perfect first feud for a returning Uncle Howdy?
I was thinking LA Knight at first due to that being Bray Wyatt’s last match at a WWE event, but that doesn’t make sense. How about Uncle Howdy and a newly formed Wyatt 6 faction going after Randy Orton for what he did to the Bray during his last feud with The Fiend, burning the house, setting him on fire, etc? Randy is so over, it doesn’t matter if he wins or loses, but could go a long way toward getting Uncle Howdy and his aligned followers over.
You get one of these guys in their prime for 20 years to start a wrestling promotion with. Who are you choosing? Hulk Hogan or John Cena?
I’d have to go with John Cena on this one. Hogan was great for his time and is a true wrestling legend, but Cena is the far more adaptable and versatile wrestler. He could have good matches with anyone, switch his style and character up, and is just the more rounded performer of the two.
IF Rhea Ripley has to vacate, who should be the new WWE Women’s World Champion?
Well, as of last night, as we all know, Rhea was forced to vacate her World Championship and will be out for an undetermined amount of time. So who should the next champion be? Liv Morgan makes sense from a storyline standpoint, but I’d like to see WWE think a little more outside the box. I’d go with either Shayna Baszler or Piper Niven.
Timeless Toni Storm, Danhausen & Goldust versus Chelsea Green, Matt Cardona & Brian Meyers. Who wins?
The entrances for the Storm/Hausen/Dustin team alone would take twenty minutes and be incredible. The mixture of comedy and characters in this match would be extremely fun as well. I’d put my money on the Indy King and friends though to win the match. No, change that. The fans would be upset and riot and Matt, Chelsea, and Meyers don’t need to win to get over. Make everyone happy. Storm, Danhausen, and Goldust would win when Meyers meets Shattered Dreams.
Do you think we will ever see the Shield team up again?
I think it will be a few years more down the road, but yes, I think we will one day see Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose, aka Jon Moxley, together as a team at least one more time before their careers are over. I don’t know when or why, but it will happen.
Should WWE bring back and rehire Jim Johnston to handle WWE themes and entrance music?
It would be a good move to add something extra special to the wrestling characters, plus give WWE control of their music using the talents of one of the very best. If this could happen, it’d be a win for all parties involved.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. I still don’t know how long it will be before I’m back on track with a regular writing schedule, but I have a doctor’s appointment early in the morning and can figure something out more after that. Regardless of whether I get to come home or spend a few days in the loving care of Scotland County’s finest medical talents, I’ll try and keep up the site with something even if it’s just stuff from the archives. I have nearly 4000 posts on this site so I’m sure I’ll be able to find something. So thanks again and I’ll let you know more when I know more. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for Samoan Family members pulling a coup and I’ll see you at the matches.
