Man, it has been one hell of a week. I won’t bore you with the details, but suffice it to say, I was right. Some people can not be happy or satisfied. And now, I have to hear about it and how “stupid” people are who can’t do their jobs correctly. Should I say, “I told you so!”, or maybe just, “I don’t care!”. I have enough issues and problems going on in my life right now. I don’t need this shit! I truly don’t.

But enough about that. Let’s get to the reason why I’m here and that is to break the monotony. My site is really heavy on the wrestling stuff right now and while there is nothing wrong with that, I need to do something for my regular readers who aren’t into the wrestling thing. Yes, both of them. And what’s better than a Day of Dougie? Yeah, writing about random topics drawn from a bag is always fun. So that’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to reach into the infamous Magic Bag, draw out three topics of discussion, and then with no preparation, advance warning, or prior notice, I’ll attempt to write. Sometimes this turns out well and we get an entertaining discussion. And other times, not so much. How will it go today? Let’s find out.

I’m reaching into the bag and the topics of discussion for today will be Regular Customers, Gremlins, and Lincoln Logs & Legos. And now that I have topics, let the discussion begin. Are you ready? Let’s roll.

Regular Customers

If you’ve ever worked in a store or restaurant, you know exactly to whom I speak. Those people who are creatures of habit who come in at the same time every day, always purchase the same items, talk about the same things, and are as regular as Grandma after her bran muffin and cup of coffee each morning. These are the people who keep most businesses alive and flourishing. And usually, they’re the best parts of each day. I’ve been working in retail since I was 14, for forty-three years, and there are some people out there that I can tell you what they drink, what they smoke, what kind of car they drive, all about their job, and so many other things. I know their life, their habits, and all the small things. I don’t have a clue to their name because I’m bad with names, but everything else, I have it covered. They’re not just customers anymore, but acquaintances, friends, and almost like family. Regular customers? They’re the best!

Gremlins

What can I say about gremlins? We’ve all seen the movie so we know they don’t like bright light, don’t get them wet, and no matter how much they beg, don’t feed them after midnight. Apart from that, what’s left? They’re cute at first, but break the rules and they become like entitled college students supporting Hamas and out of control. I wouldn’t have them in the house.

But did you know that there used to be a car called a Gremlin? It was small with two doors and sort of cute, but not really. It was manufactured by American Motors from 1970-1978. It had the front kind of like a station wagon, but a subcompact rear and was small. Very small. And did I mention 2 doors? It would probably make a good clown car and I could see it being popular with college kids, but I can see why it was discontinued and taken out of production. It just doesn’t seem all that practical. It was cute, but if I want small, compact, and cute, I’ll stick with my Volkswagen Bug. They’ve got personality and the Gremlins? Not so much. And there you go.

Lincoln Logs & Legos

Legos are still very popular and there are sets and kits where you can make almost anything from the Lego blocks. They’re fun for all ages and the possibilities are endless. Just don’t step on them because they hurt. They hurt a lot.

Lincoln Logs though? They were popular when I was a kid, but aside from building walls and cabins, there wasn’t too much that you could do with them. I remember building barricades and walls for my GI Joe dudes to hide behind during battle, but not much else. I wonder, do they still make those things? I don’t remember seeing them in Walmart when I was looking at the toys, but truthfully, I was looking at wrestling figures and title belts so it’s possible I just overlooked them. They’re great toys for smaller children to help them develop hand-eye coordination and building skills. And some of us grown-ups? We like them too. At least I think I still would. Maybe I should get some and find out. Hmmmm.

And there you go. That wasn’t so bad, was it? Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. If you have any suggestions for me to add to the bag, let me know of those as well. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. And if you’re having a bad day, just grit your teeth and smile. Make it a Day of Dougie and you’ll feel better. Or take a shot of liquor. Whatever works, right? I’ll see you in the parking lot at Walmart.

Ubuntu!
