Thoughts & Predictions

Tonight, live from Albany, NY, it’s TNA Under Siege pay-per-view. It can be viewed on TNA+, Triller TV, and all regular PPV outlets. And since it’s a PPV by a major wrestling company, that means prediction time. Let’s take a look at the current lineup as I write this, Friday morning. I’m Doug. Let’s roll.
TNA Champion Moose & TNA Tag Team Champions Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards vs. Matt Hardy & Mike Bailey & Trent Seven.
I’m not sure of the story behind this match except that Matt Hardy attacked Moose at the last TNA PPV event and now, here we are. But there is a lot of great talent involved in this match and I do not doubt that it will be a banger of an event. If Matt and friends win, my guess is that would put them in line for title shots against the champions. That sounds like story advancement. Wrestling needs more story advancement. Let’s go with that.
Winners: Matt Hardy, Mike Bailey & Trent Seven.
TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace & PCO vs. Steph De Lander & Kon.
A mixed tag team match with four talents who would all do well on a larger stage. Grace, as we all know, was part of the WWE Royal Rumble this past year, while PCO and Kon, then known as Konner of The Ascension fame, had run with the WWE in past days. And Steph De Lander is best known as Matt Cardona’s sidekick and valet ever since Chelsea Green returned to the WWE. Four exceptional talents. I expect to see Grace and PCO go over since they’re the obvious favorites here, but my gut wants Steph and Kon to pull an upset. Let’s go with the upset.
Winners: Steph De Lander & Kon.
TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions Spitfire vs. Alisha Edwards & Masha Slamovich.
While she is impressive in the ring, I just can not take anyone named Masha Slamovich seriously. This brings back too many memories of the WWF in the early 80s. I somewhat expect to see Harvey Whippleman pop up as the manager at ringside. Let’s go with the Champions, the team of Spitfire, aka Dani Luna and Jody Threat, to keep their belts. Besides, they just won the titles at TNA Sacrifice. It’s too soon to switch the belts again.
Winners and STILL TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions: Spitfire (Dani Luna & JodyThreat).
TNA X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali vs. Ace Austin.
Mustafa Ali is not losing the belt anytime soon. This will be a damn good match. Austin is a talented guy and he and Ali should match up nicely, but that belt will not be changing hands.
Winner and STILL TNA X-Division Champion: Mustafa Ali
Alexander Hammerstone vs. Jake Something.
Another match that should be good and entertaining. Hammerstone just came over from MLW a few months ago and this guy has been really impressive. He’s a future TNA Champion. And Jake Something? He’s something as well. A solid talent with a solid presence inside that squared circle. Let’s go with Hammerstone for the victory here.
Winner: Alexander Hammerstone
Frankie Kazarian & Steve Maclin vs. Eric Young & Josh Alexander.
Didn’t Eric Young have his ear nearly severed a few weeks ago? How is he wrestling here? How did he get medically cleared? I expect a substitution with Young maybe just being at ringside instead. Everyone else is healthy thought and this should be another very good match. Let’s go with Kazarian and Maclin for the win.
Winners: Steve Maclin & Frankie Kazarian.
Jonathan Gresham vs. KUSHIDA.
And here we have yet another match that should be excellent. Gresham is so good and KUSHIDA is a legend from Japan who, unlike most of the Japanese legends in other promotions, has established a good history in TNA and has been a strong presence for a while. Gresham is the obvious favorite, but my gut says differently. Let’s go with KUSHIDA to get the surprise win.
Winner: KUSHIDA
Ash by Elegance vs. Havok.
I’ve always liked and appreciated Dana Brooke, but this Ash by Elegance character just annoys me to no end. It’s like Eva Marie and Toni Storm both got impregnated by The Exotic Adrian Steet at a Holiday Inn Express and the resulting infants were subjected to a scientific experiment and left in a microwave too long, melted together, and Ash by Elegance was the result. Dana could do so much better. And for that reason alone, I can not support her to win. Well, that, plus Havok is an excellent talent in her own right. Let’s go with Havok for the win.
Winner: Havok
