It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug and this is how we do it. Let’s roll.
WWE Backlash 2024 had the lowest pay-per-views buys in history according to Dave Meltzer. Thoughts?
What needs to be pointed out is that WWE doesn’t use the traditional PPV methods and does 99.995% of their Premium Live Event sales through the WWE Network and Peacock. So they’re not selling many PPVs through the traditional channels. It’s not a big deal and this is news about nothing.
Are Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill the Women’s equivalent of The Road Warriors in tag team wrestling?
They’re both power-based wrestlers with an intimidating presence and presentation. I can see this comparison, especially since it was Mr. Jim Cornette who made this analogy. If Bianca and Jade start wearing make-up on their faces and spiked shoulder pads, it would be a great gimmick. Paul Ellering is already part of WWE so maybe he can be added to the team. Hmmmm.
Adam Copeland says he was shut down when pitching Gangrel to accompany him at WrestleMania 39 as ‘Brood Edge’ due to the belief that ‘nobody remembers’: “I tried. I just got shut down. Every person shut it down.” Thoughts?
I guess that someone in WWE management doesn’t much care for Gangrel and some bridges have been burnt in the past that have yet to be repaired. Remember that this all happened during the Vince McMahon/Bruce Pritchard era and Vince has been known to be petty and hold some grudges. I suspect if this had happened during the more current days of Triple H in charge without any outside meddling, Edge would have gotten his way and we’d have seen a Brood versus Judgment Day encounter.
The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart) versus The Dudley Boyz. Who wins?
Get the tables. The Dudley Boyz would and should win.
Matt Cardona versus Danhausen. Who wins?
Danhausen may curse me for saying this, but Matt is the Death Match King and an Indy God. Matt would take the win in this match.
With the WWE Draft around the corner, it doesn’t look like the brand split is going away any time – but should it? And what is the benefit of keeping it?
Keeping the brand split makes sense to me. It helps give the viewers of each show an idea of what wrestlers and talents to expect on each brand, and helps with the scheduling and formatting for the live events. Also, it gives each show more of its own identity and brand. In the big picture of things, the brand split is a good thing.
According to Fightful, Tamina has not been backstage at any WWE events lately, was not drafted in the WWE Draft, but is still under contract with the company. Why does this woman still have a job with the WWE?
It’s all about the family ties. Tamina is related to The Rock, Roman, and the rest of the Bloodline family. Sometimes, it’s all in who you know. But I’d rather see Tamina be used. She’s not the best wrestler in WWE, but she’s competent and strong, and when used properly, she can be an intimidating and powerful presence in that ring. If she was used as a silent, but deadly female in the Bloodline, much as their equivalent of Chyna with DX, Tamina could be a major player in the WWE to be their presence in the WWE Women’s Division. Can you imagine Tamina and Nia as a tag team with Paul Heyman in their corner? Tamina has a role in WWE, but if they don’t use her properly, they need to just go ahead and release her already.
If WWE were to bring back the Brawl for All, what 8 wrestlers would you choose to participate in the shoot-fight series?
Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley, Wade Barrett, Sheamus, Bronson Reed, Omos, Logan Paul, and MVP would be my picks. All of these men have either a legitimate MMA or fighting background or are just too damn big to be ignored.
Adam Copeland I feel his name value dropped, means nothing in AEW. The booking has destroyed him and put him in pointless matches. He thinks he is the locker room leader, but his promos mean nothing when the company runs badly. Should he get out of there? I feel he destroyed his legacy since coming back.
AEW has essentially killed any momentum or star quality about Adam Copeland and he’s just another wrestler these days. His run in AEW can not be what he was expecting when he signed that contract. At least Copeland is getting well-paid and making lots of money. I guess that counts for something.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
