It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m your party host and Guiding Light, Doug. Let’s roll.
What would you rate WWE Clash at the Castle out of 10?
Out of ten, I’d give it probably a 7.5. A solid show with good action, but the many botches, due to the loose and sweaty ring ropes, threw things off for a bit. I would have liked to see maybe one or two more matches, but no complaints.
Right or wrong call to not have Drew McIntyre win the World Title in Scotland?
I’ll say it was the right call. It’s too soon to pull the legs out from Priest, plus the ending heats things with Drew/CM Punk, building their feud. If Drew had won, he’d be obligated to fight Gunther at SummerSlam and we’d be left waiting for Drew versus Punk. With this ending, we get more bang for the buck with Gunther fighting Priest, assuming Priest retains the title at Money In The Bank, and Drew versus Punk. It all works out better this way.
Two out of three falls: Goldberg versus Brock Lesnar. Who wins?
Brock in two straight falls, no doubt!
Chris Jericho or CM Punk?
This is tough because I like both men. Both guys are tremendous workers and masters of reinventing themselves as needed. Either guy is a major asset to any promotion that he works for. But if I had to choose one or the other to build a company, I’d probably go with Jericho.
Brock Anderson versus Lexis King (Brian Pillman Jr.). Who wins?
This would be awesome to see. Anderson is a chip off the block and will be a big name in the business one day. At this point though, Pillman Jr., aka King, would probably win any match.
Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn are the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Good move or not?
To keep the fans happy after watching two of their hometown heroes lose, I think it was the right call. New champions, but since they didn’t beat the former champions, it doesn’t hurt Bianca and Jade at all. It made for a moment that was probably much needed, plus elevated Fyre and Dawn. Good for them.
The Blade Runners (Sting & Ultimate Warrior) versus American Starship Coyote & Eagle (Scott Hall & Dan Spivey). Who wins?
While I appreciate and respect Sting and the body of his work, I’ve never been a fan of the Warrior. Scott Hall and Dan Spivey, as the American Starship, was a short run for Crockett, but it was obvious even then that these guys had talent. I’ll go with the pre-Hey Yo’ guy and the future Waylon Mercy for this one. American Starship wins.
Would Hulk Hogan have a chance to become President of the United States?
Hulk is just making noise and talking to be talking, as usual. An animated corpse who showers with his kid has a better chance than Hogan. Hulk Hogan will not run for President, nor will he ever be President. The animated corpse though? Lord help us all.
Was the Damien Priest/Drew McIntyre rope incident planned or not? Yes or no?
No, it was not planned. The precision and timing required for that incident, plus the risk of a major injury makes that obvious. It was a freak accident and Damian got lucky that he wasn’t seriously injured.
Only 5 matches for a PLE event? Is that enough or should there be more?
I would have preferred to see more, as in maybe a tag team title defense or maybe a throw-away match for the Kickoff Show. For me, seven or eight matches is the ideal number for a major show. But that being said, it was a solid show from start to finish and I can’t complain. I just think there should be a little bit more.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for slippery ropes and I’ll see you at the matches.
