It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, and this is the Q&A your Mama warned you about. Let’s roll.

Austin Idol will have a new reality series on Amazon Prime & Roku called Tales from Idolville this fall based around his wrestling school, Universal Wrestling College. Thoughts about the Universal Heartthrob?

I mainly remember Idol from his stay in Tennessee when he and Tommy Rich feuded with Jerry Lawler and a run with Crockett where he mainly walked around with a video camera and feuded with Leroy Brown. I know that he’s been working with the NWA for a few years now, but I’ve only caught him in passing with that group. Idol is a good talker, was a decent worker, and even now, in his senior years, still looks as if he could go. The reality show sounds interesting and I’ll make it a point to try and check it out at some point.

Speaking of reality series, what wrestlers do you think would do well with a reality series about their life/career?

Jeff and Matt Hardy and their families would be extremely interesting to see. Maybe Logan Paul or Pat McAfee and their daily routines would make for some interesting television. And hell, how about CM Punk, AJ Lee, and Larry the Dog?

Do you think Tony Khan would ever want to take AEW public?

If AEW went public, Tony would have to reveal how much money he’s spending, how the money is being spent, contracts, and be answerable to the stockholders wanting a return on their investments. I can’t see him doing any of that. So I would say in regards to AEW going public, it’s a huge no.

What’s Drew McIntyre’s next move?

As we saw last night on Smackdown, he laid out CM Punk in a great segment, stole Punk’s bracelet, and sent him out in an ambulance. So I think that Drew’s next move was getting payback on Punk in Punk’s hometown. And the games continue.

Which wrestlers are better off in AEW than they were in WWE?

Edge and Christian are better off with AEW because WWE wasn’t using them and now, they’re making a ton of money and Christian is on the best run of his career. Maybe Mercedes Monet, at least with the paycheck. But in terms of having strong matches, memorable stories, and big moments, I can’t think of anyone else. Moxley maybe?

Ryback wants to face Goldberg in his retirement match at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. Thoughts?

Ryback hasn’t wrestled a match since August 2018, so what makes him think he’s even worthy of being considered for a spot at Wrestlemania, much less a match with Goldberg? He’s just blowing smoke as usual. If and when Goldberg has his final match, I think it’s safe to say that Ryback will not be involved in the event.

What do you think Jaida Parker’s potential is on the WWE main roster?

I’ve only seen her wrestle a couple of times and she’s okay, but I don’t see big-star or greatness in her as of yet. She’s competent enough, but the “it” vibe isn’t there. She doesn’t seem comfortable in her skin as of yet. Maybe she’ll improve over time, but she’s not there yet.

Who do you want to see as a world champion? It doesn’t matter what company.

I want to see Heath Slater come back to WWE and do the same thing his two 3MB partners did by capturing the WWE Championship. And if Matt Cardona, when he eventually returns to the WWE, has a good run as the WWE or World Champion, that would be extremely cool as well.

Allegedly, AEW didn’t offer Jeff Hardy a new deal following Matt’s departure. Thoughts.

I guess that AEW management realized that without Matt remaining in AEW, there wasn’t much chance of Jeff sticking around either so why bother? Jeff’s run with AEW was not good and Jeff seemed to spend more time on the shelf than able to work. AEW just decided to cut their losses and move on, much as Jeff seemingly has done with TNA. It sounds as if this was a mutual decision.

If Triple H told you to cut 5 WWE Superstars from the main roster, who would you choose to pink slip?

Right off the top of my head, I’d go with Apollo Crews, Omos, Tamina Snuka, Axiom, and Odyssey Jones. They rarely use any of these talents and in the case of Omos, he’s big but makes Great Khali look like Rick Steamboat in comparison. Tamina only has a job because of her family connections. None of these would be a big loss to WWE.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for Drew McIntyre in the back and I’ll see you at the matches.

Ubuntu!
