It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m your party host and Guiding Light, Doug. If you have questions, I have the answers. Let’s roll.
There are rumors that Big E may return to the ring at SummerSlam. Thoughts?
Big E allegedly hinted at a possible return to the ring at the Money in the Bank PLE with his comments, and his partners in the New Day, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods, have been having problems with Karrion Kross and his crew, so who knows? I can see Big E coming back and working a limited schedule, but not a full-time schedule or taking any bumps on the neck. Is it true and will Big E be returning to the ring? Who knows? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Cody Rhodes has a new interview-style talk show on the WWE YouTube channel called, ‘What Do You Want to Talk About?’.Have you seen it? Thoughts?
I haven’t seen it, but it makes sense. Cody is always thinking outside the box and did the variety show thing while working for AEW, plus made appearances on the television show, Arrow. The man is subtly preparing for a career outside of wrestling, for when the days of climbing into the ring, have passed. He’s gaining experience and building a resume. Good for him.
Mace and Mansoor in ROH? This isn’t the old Ring of Honor anymore?
ROH hasn’t been the Ring of Honor we remember for many years now. Now, it’s just an off-shoot of AEW and one of Tony Khan’s toys, nothing more. But maybe Mace and Mansoor will get a break here and develop into major stars? Best of luck to those two gentlemen. As for ROH, it is what it is and what it was, it’ll never be again. ‘Nuff said!
CJ Perry, aka Lana, is no longer part of AEW. What’s next? Thoughts?
Perry is gone. It’s not a big surprise because she didn’t do anything of note except an aborted angle with her now ex-husband, and get injured. Perry is a likable and attractive woman, but maybe now that she doesn’t have Miro to hang on to, she should pursue Hollyweird and give up the wrestling business. It just doesn’t seem to be working out for her much these days.
Bayley recently stated that she’s pushing for a WWE Evolution II PLE, saying it’s time and a different era. Would you like to see the All-Womens’ PLE return?
I would love to see this happen. Bayley is correct about this being a different time and era. With all of the talented women in WWE and NXT, not to mention TNA and Stardom, there are more than enough strong talents available to have a spectacular 8-9 match event to highlight the ladies. With rumors of Stephanie McMahon possibly coming back to WWE, let’s hope that this might be one of her projects to get behind and make happen. I just hope that WWE waits until we have Charlotte, Asuka, Becky, Carmella, and Alexis Bliss all back active on the roster, but even if we don’t have those ladies available, there are more than enough to fill the holes. I hope this event does come back. It would be awesome.
John Cena should concentrate on entertaining fans rather than putting over young wrestlers in his last run in WWE. Yes or no?
Why not do both? Have great matches, be the character that the fans know and love, and put over young wrestlers with great matches. It’s not a “one or the other” type deal. It’s possible to do both and Cena is good enough to do just that.
WWE talent is reportedly said to be “not surprised” by the high rate of injury in AEW due to not wrestling frequently enough. Thoughts?
It makes sense. If you don’t use it, you lose it, and wrestling only a dozen times a year, if you’re lucky, is not a way to stay consistent or get better. A human body is a machine and putting the pressure of high physical activity only randomly is far harder than a busy schedule of hard, repetitive action and work, aka several matches a week. The AEW stars need to be in the gym daily, working the Indy shows, and keep their muscles fresh and active, or else the injuries will continue to build up and accumulate. It’s just common sense.
Chelsea Green says the introduction of more women’s titles would be a “game changer” for the WWE women’s division. Thoughts?
It would change things, but would it be for the better? Chelsea is an amazing wrestler and great character and knows more about the business than I do, but we disagree on this one. I look at new titles and just see more titles when there are too many already. The WWE Women are amazing and deserve some credit and accolades for their work, but give them a Women-only PPV and strong matches on TV. New titles? No, I don’t think so.
The press release from Nov. 2 announced Ric Flair had signed a “multi-year deal” with AEW. As posted today, Ric Flair finished with AEW for now, energy drink sponsorship ended. Thoughts?
It lasted longer than I expected. My guess is a multi-year contract isn’t what it seems to be these days. Ric is Ric and while he’s arguably the greatest wrestler of all time, the Ric we get these days is a shadow of that legendary wrestler and is hard to watch. Ric has had several controversial moments including the arguments at the restaurant, not to mention the whole ‘Death of WCW’ rant, which had to be walked back, against Bischoff, Russo, and Herd. Ric is an embarrassment to himself and pro wrestling these days, and I can’t blame AEW for cutting the ties.
CJ Perry, fka Lana, says she wants to be the next Paul Heyman. Thoughts?
There is only one Paul Heyman and CJ Perry? She’s not it. She’s not even close. If Perry wants to be known as a great manager, she needs to work on being the best CJ Perry or Lana, or whatever name she uses, that she can be. But Heyman is in an elite class of his own. Don’t want the impossible. Stick with more realistic goals instead.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up for now. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects, or Chris Jericho with a forklift. I’ll see you at the matches.
