It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s roll.
Jim Cornette talked about this on his podcast. What if Missy Hyatt had been the manager of the Horsemen after Tully & Arn left instead of Hiro Matsuda?
Thinking of Missy and the character that she played in World Class and Mid-South, it would have been a fun swerve and certainly have gone much better than the Hito Matsuda J-Tex fiasco. Missy was a great heel character, and the spoiled princess aligned with Ric Flair and the remaining Four Horsemen would have worked. Hiro Matsuda was a wrestling legend, but at that point, he had the charisma of a turnip and moved around just about as well. Missy would have been an incredible improvement and option for the NWA.
Jake Hager recently talked about how Chris Jericho constantly puts over younger talents, something that people like The Undertaker, Triple H, and Sting never did. Thoughts?
I like Jake, and he’s got a point that Chris does tend to work with the younger talents quite a bit, but is it to get them over or to get Chris Jericho over? Most likely a mixture of both. Chris is a legit superstar and great wrestler, but any actions with the younger talents were not done without benefit for Chris being among the reasons and motives. Jake is standing up for his friend and I get and appreciate that. But Jericho wasn’t a saint and he did what he did for his benefits first.
Ronda Rousey recently described Paul Heyman as the “backbone of professional wrestling”? Thoughts?
While I have much that I can disagree with Rousey about in regards to her recent opinions on professional wrestling, that is one take that I am 100% with. Heyman is a wrestling genius and his fingerprints are all over the current WWE product. Heyman makes wrestling better.
Matt Cardona wants to be one of John Cena’s final opponents. Thoughts?
It makes sense and there is a history there. I hope that WWE makes it happen. It would be great to see.
Bayley versus Trish Stratus. Who wins?
Trish is a WWE Hall of Famer and is easily one of the best women wrestlers of her era. That is without question or doubt. Bayley may not have that Hall of Fame ring yet, but it’s coming and that too is without question or doubt. This would be a good match. I think Trish would take the win.
So how long until Joe Hendry is on the main roster of WWE?
When does his contract with TNA expire? Look for Hendry on RAW the Monday night immediately after.
Tony Khan says Adam Copeland ‘arguably has been on the greatest run of his entire legendary career’. Agree or disagree?
Look at the career of Adam Copeland, aka Edge. And then look at the past year and Edge’s run in AEW. There is no comparison. Tony is just talking to be talking and on this, he’s 100% wrong.
Rachel Ellering has gone All-Elite. Thoughts?
Good for her, I guess. Ellering has worked previously for both TNA and NXT and has never quite made it as a big star. Maybe this is her time and Tony Khan will find what’s been missing from all of her previous stints with the other companies. Ellering is a talented young woman and a decent wrestler. Maybe this move is what she was looking for to take it to the next level. Best of luck to her.
Is it a safe bet to say that Mick Foley, who was Cactus Jack at the time, was made and noticed after his WCW Beach Blast 1992 match with Sting? Did that specific match make him?
Foley was doing the small things to get noticed and get over long before and long after working with Sting. That match may have opened some eyes, but the feud with Vader, the match against Mil Mascaras at the Clash of the Champions and the antics afterward, the working as a jobber, but attacking partners after the match, etc. There were so many things and the stint in ECW, plus the first run in WWE as Mankind. It was all of these things. Sting played a part, for sure, but it was just a small one.
Paul Jones’ Army (The Warlord, The Barbarian, Teijo Khan & Baron Von Raschke) versus The Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Finn Balor, JD McDonough & Dominik Mysterio) w/ Rhea Ripley. Who wins?
Paul Jones and his army were impressive and a fun faction to watch and enjoy, but this was against Mami and her men. The Judgment Day wins.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
