I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s roll.
What’s your go-to Japanese promotion these days?
Considering that I originally began my journey through the crazy world that is professional wrestling by covering International wrestling, mainly in Japan, this is embarrassing, but I haven’t been following wrestling in Japan all that much as of late. I keep up with New Japan via the AEW connection. Pro Wrestling NOAH and Stardom have gotten my attention as well. But I don’t follow Japan all that much though unless they’re doing something with WWE, AEW, or TNA.
Did Sting fit the nWo?
It looked as if Sting was having fun during his nWo Wolfpac run and that has to count for something. But that being said, Sting didn’t belong in a faction. A regular tag team with Luger maybe, but part of a group? No, I don’t think it was a good fit.
Which TNA talent do you want to see on NXT next?
Is Heath still part of TNA? I’d love to see the former Heath Slater back in WWE, be it WWE or NXT. Aside from Heath, how about Alan Angels? I’ve been a fan of this guy since his days on the Sammy Guevera VLOG in AEW and I’d love to see him have a WWE/NXT moment.
Who should dethrone Roxanne Perez?
I’d love for it to be a Tiffy-Time moment and MITB winner Tiffany Straton cash in on Perez. That would be a cool moment. Seeing Chelsea Green win some NXT Gold would be awesome as well.
Today marks 100 days as WWE champion for Cody Rhodes. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rank his title reign thus far?
I’d give it maybe a 7.5. It’s been solid with some good matches and title defenses, but it hasn’t been great as of yet. Thus far, it’s more of Cody being consistent and going through the motions, planting the seeds for events and stories yet to come. Cody is slowly building momentum as the WWE Unified Champion and the best is yet to come.
Now that he’s no longer with AEW, do you think Ric Flair will end up back in WWE?
While a one-shot with Charlotte is possible, Ric’s days in WWE are essentially over. Between Ric’s drinking and his other public antics, Ric is more of a liability than anything else. Plus, I think the bridge with Triple H has been torched and while it’s still standing, it’s too fragile to walk across all that often.
Should Seth Rollins be the special guest referee of CM Punk versus Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam?
Seth doesn’t like CM Punk, plus he blames Drew for costing him the World Championship at least twice. He has heat with both men, plus he doesn’t have a match or angle booked for SummerSlam as of yet. So special referee Seth Rollins? That sounds good to me.
Kurt Angle, Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin versus Chad Gable & The Creeds. Who wins?
While I have much respect and appreciation for Gable and The Creeds, nothing beats the Original Team Angle. Kurt, Haas, and Shelton would take the win.
Superstar Billy Graham versus Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner. Who wins?
The Big Bad Booty Daddy versus the original man the fans loved to hate, the tower of power too sweet to be sour, etc. Look at the arms and powers on both men. This would be an awesome encounter. I think Superstar Billy would take a beating, but would squeak out with the victory after a distraction by Graham’s manager, The Grand Wizard.
Ted DiBiase recently said that he thinks pro wrestling would have died if Vince McMahon hadn’t gone national and ended the territory system. Thoughts?
While it may not have become the multi-billion dollar industry that it currently is, pro wrestling would still be alive and thriving. The expansion to a worldwide product was inevitable though and if Vince hadn’t done the expansion, someone else would have. But pro wrestling will always find a way to survive. It’s still real to me, damn it!
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care, my friends, and stay well. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
