It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Happy Birthday to my little bro, the one and only Phoenix Mike Youngblood. Love ya, buddy. And now, on to the questions. Let’s roll.
Were there any wrestling holds that you mastered as a kid?
The DDT was a favorite, albeit more just a reflex than intentional. I was particularly skilled at the Cobra Clutch. I learned from watching The Masked Superstar, and it worked quite well in a struggle.
Are you excited for AEW Blood & Guts this upcoming Wednesday night on Dynamite?
It’s Friday morning as I write this so AEW Blood & Guts was two days ago. And I didn’t have much hope for it, but I did watch and it was a pretty good match. That chair shot to Perry by Briscoe made me cringe, and the ending. Who knew that threatening murder by flames was a good way to win a wrestling match? But apart from that, it was entertaining and one of the best matches I’ve seen from AEW in quite a while.
Bobby Eaton versus Ricochet. Who wins?
The original high-flyer versus the modern-day man of the sky. This match would be excellent. Ricochet is the better wrestler overall, but Bobby was Bobby and he always had Jim Cornette in his corner. Ricochet would dominate most of the match, but Cornette would sneak in, cause a distraction, and Bobby would take advantage to get the victory.
Disco Inferno versus Fandango. Who wins?
The pre-match antics would be better than the match. It would be an excellent match as well since both guys are fantastic in-ring workers and far better than they’re given credit for. A tough call for this one, but I think Fandango would capture the win.
Dominik has sided with Rhea and has broken Liv’s heart. How do you think this is going to play out?
Dom will turn on Rhea at SummerSlam and join his new partner, Liv Morgan, only to become even a bigger heel than ever, while cementing Rhea as the biggest babyface in the company. And then Mami will spank both of them. That’s the most likely scenario. I hope we see Dom tease a turn and then cost Liv the title, staying with Mami, but I doubt we’ll get it that way.
Would you like to see AJ Lee come back to WWE? And if she did, who would you like to see her wrestle?
I would love to see AJ back in wrestling for a short run and maybe a cameo or two. Wrestling-wise, how about AJ versus Liv Morgan? AJ versus Zelina Vega, given their sizes, would be fun to see as well.
Jake Paul versus Bobby Lashley in a MMA match. Who wins?
In a boxing match, Paul would win. In an MMA match, I think I’d have to go with The All-Mighty.
When John Cena’s final run ends in 2025, and it’s all said and done, who do you think should INDUCT John Cena into the WWE Hall of Fame?
I would go with Kurt Angle. Cena’s first major appearance on WWE TV was accepting an open challenge from Kurt Angle so going full circle, Angle would be the perfect person for that role.
Buddy Matthews has allegedly signed a new deal with AEW. Thoughts?
He keeps a job and gets a big check. Good for him.
MJF has changed the name of the International Championship to the American Championship. Thoughts?
This title has gone through so many changes already. It started as the All-Atlantic Championship but then was combined with one of the ROH titles, as well as an NJPW title (I can’t remember which one), and then the unification was forgotten about and it was the All-Atlantic title again. And now, it’s the American Championship. What’s next? The Texas Pete Invitational Championship? It’s confusing and truthfully, dumb. Stick with one name and leave it be, please.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Now it’s time to go fold clothes. Oy vey! I’ll see you at the matches.
