It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s roll.
According to Booker T, if Roxanne Perez retired today, she’d go into the WWE Hall of Fame. Is Booker right?
That may be Booker’s opinion, but I would think that Perez needs more time in the business, as well as more accolades before she’s HOF eligible.
Who are your Top 5 favorite pro wrestlers of all time?
It varies from day to day and changes often, but right off the top of my head, it would be Harley Race, Blackjack Mulligan, The Masked Superstar, Beautiful Bobby Eaton, and Arn Anderson.
Who made you fall in love with wrestling?
I’ve been watching wrestling since I was four years old so it’s hard to name any particular person. My early favorites were Mighty Igor, Blackjack Mulligan, The Minnesota Wrecking Crew, Ole & Gene Anderson, and Johnny Weaver, among others.
Alex Hammerstone, aka Hammerstone, from TNA, was the mystery opponent for Oba Femi on NXT. Do you have any thoughts on Hammerstone?
Hammerstone is a big dude with an impressive look and tons of charisma. He has that ‘it’ factor and lots of potential. If used correctly, he has all the tools to be a big star for either TNA or NXT.
If you could ask Paul Heyman one question, what would you ask?
That is a tough one. Just one question? I’d ask Heyman what it is that he loves about professional wrestling. And we could take that opener in so many directions.
According to Dave Bautista, CM Punk is an overlooked actor whose potential in acting is pretty unlimited. What are your thoughts on Punk as an actor?
I haven’t seen much of Punk’s work apart from wrestling as of yet, but the few things that I have seen, I was impressed. I’ve long said that pro wrestlers are the best improvisational actors in the world. And since, in terms of pro wrestling, Punk calls himself the ‘Best in the World!’, it makes sense that he’d be good at acting as well.
Is Swerve/Hangman Page Burning the House the modern equivalent of WCW and blowing up the boat in the build for Beach Blast 1993 and the tag team main event between Sting/The British Bulldog versus Vader/Sid Vicious?
That’s a fair comparison and works perfectly. All we were missing from the home arson video was a midget running down the beach. Yes, I like that comparison.
Matt Riddle seems to feel that the chance of him going back to WWE at some point is “extremely high”. Is he right? Would you like to see Riddle back in WWE?
Riddle has burned plenty of bridges, but he’s also a charismatic and talented performer, so I guess the idea here is to never say never. He’s probably right. And yes, I would like to see Riddle back in WWE at some point.
There have been rumors that former NXT Champion Mandy Rose may be considering a return to professional wrestling. Would you like to see her return?
Honestly, I had forgotten about Rose. Return or not, it really wouldn’t matter to me. She’s a talented performer but was never among my favorites.
WWE plans to cut down on house shows in 2025. Thoughts.
It’s all about cutting costs while building profit. WWE already does three live events with their television tapings as it is, plus overseas tours and premium live events. I think WWE may end up burning some bridges with this move, but they’re trying the less is more approach to building profits. I can’t really blame them for that.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Questions, comments, and thoughts are welcome and appreciated. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
Ubuntu!
