It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s do this.
Fatal 4-Way: Stephen Amell versus Logan Paul versus Pat McAfee versus Bad Bunny. Who wins?
These are four of the best celebrity-turned-wrestlers I’ve ever seen and each takes the sport very seriously, is athletic, and can be counted on for a good, believable wrestling match. I think Logan Paul would win this one.
What was the better series? Heels or G.L.O.W.?
I deeply enjoyed the GLOW series when it was on Netflix. Unfortunately, the pandemic brought it to an early end and there was so much more to see. I have not seen an episode of Heels, but I’ve heard so much about it, I am excited for the re-debut on Netflix this weekend and will most likely binge it late Saturday night or Sunday. So which is better? It depends on your tastes and what you’re looking for in a television series. I’d say, yes, they’re both damn good.
Name five personalities you’d like to see Chris Van Vliet sit down with an interview.
I’ve been a fan of Van Vliet for several years and it seems as if he’s the go-to guy for interviews, more like conversations, for all wrestlers, actors, and people of note. Five people I’d like to see him sit across the table from and have a discussion with. I’d say, off the top of my head, Lisa ‘Ivory’ Moretti, James E. Cornette, Alan Angels, Joe Hendry, and Dominik Mysterio.
The Anderson Brothers, Ole & Gene, versus Hulk Hogan & The Ultimate Warrior. Who wins?
Ole & Gene would work over Hulk & Warrior and wait for them to blow up, and then go to work and take apart the two bigger men like the machine that they were. If the match went five minutes or less, it would be Hogan and Warrior, but the longer it went, the bigger advantage that The Anderson Brothers would have. Ole & Gene would win.
Thoughts on Luke Williams & Butch Miller, aka The Bushwhackers?
Two odd and yet very tough men. I remember seeing them several times as the Kiwi Sheepherders and they were brutal, bloody, and the picture of viciousness. After the move to WWE and the transformation to the Bushwhackers, it was as if they were a totally different tag team. The changes probably saved a lot of wear and tear on their bodies and extended their careers by many years. I preferred the early pre-WWE days as a fan of their in-ring work, but I’m happy for the changes that made them more accessible and successful in the later years of their careers.
Where is Aaron Solo? He seems to have vanished from the AEW roster.
Aaron is still part of the AEW roster and is listed as part of the ROH brand. He’s listed as part of QT Marshall’s faction but hasn’t been used which I can find in quite a while. So he’s in AEW wrestling limbo at the moment. It’s a shame because he’s a talented dude with a lot of potential and would make an excellent top heel for the company.
Besides Mina Shirakawa, what are a couple of “scalps” that Mariah May could collect that would get this title reign back on track?
How about Maiah May going after ROH Women’s Champion Athena? That could be fun to see.
What would be your perfect 3-man commentary team? You can choose from anyone past or present.
For me lead announcer, I’d go with NWA Worldwide Wrestling host, from the 80s, Rich Landrum. The man was excellent and highly underrated. For the two color analysts, I’d go with WWEs Corey Graves and Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan.
How would you book Bobby Lashley in AEW? Who do you think should be his first major feud?
I’d realign Lashley with former hype man Lio Rush, who is already a part of the AEW roster, and let them pick up where they left off so many years ago in WWE as the All-Mighty. And since Lashley is an Alpha Male, how about a challenge against Jericho to start things off? Lashley versus Jericho isn’t that hot an idea, but when Big Bill and the potential return of Lashley’s former Hurt Business associates are added to the mix, it could make for some interesting times.
Do you think the only reason why someone as talented as Athena is not on AEW’s main roster is because she’s a female wrestler?
She’s not featured regularly on the main AEW roster because she is recognized as a ROH Talent, being the longest-running AEW Women’s Champion in history, and that’s where Tony prefers her thus far. Her gender has nothing to do with her location in the AEW/ROH system.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s close up for now. I’ll see you at the matches.
