It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s roll.
Which match should be the main event of Bad Blood? CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre Or Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes vs The Bloodline?
That’s a tough choice because I think which one is the main event boils down to what the ending of the match is planned to be and whether there will be any surprises or returns. Punk versus Drew is a Hell in a Cell match and by all rights, that should close the show. But what if Paul Heyman or The Usos return to help Roman? What if Roman turns on Cody and realigns himself with Solo and his friends? Wouldn’t that be a better cliffhanger for the show to end on? It’s a tough call, but I’ll say Punk versus Drew should close the show.
WWE is reportedly scrapping Def Rebel as their music partner and will not be renewing their contracts once they expire. It is expected that WWE will use mainstream artists going forward. Thoughts?
This is understandable. Thus far, Def Rebel hasn’t produced any themes memorable that could rival the Jim Johnston days and I don’t think WWE is getting their money’s worth from this deal. Better to expand the options and find music that caters to each individual performer rather than blanket everyone under one entity.
Jos LeDuc & Ox Baker versus Jacob Fatu & Bronson Reed. Who wins?
This would be brutal, bloody, scary, and very exciting. The monsters of the old days versus the monsters of today. It would be a double disqualification or no-contest finish. If there had to be a winning team, I’d go with Fatu & Reed for the win.
What triggers AEW fans more? Punk, Cornette, ratings, or attendance?
Facts & reality. But of the four options given, I’ll go with ratings & attendance. They honestly can’t see why fans are fleeing their product and don’t share the same love or obsession for AEW that they do. It confuses and bewilders them.
Thoughts on the WWE tag team Pretty Deadly?
Elton Prince & Kit Wilson are a good team. I find them entertaining, talented, and kind of like a dirty little secret in that they’re rarely used, but when given an opportunity, rarely fail to deliver. Right now, they’re considered comedy wrestlers, but once they start to perform in the ring, they’re as good as anyone currently in WWE. Right now, WWE is on fire and so hot, the roster is stacked, and Pretty Deadly is kind of lost in the shuffle. They’re worth keeping an eye on though and for Prince & Wilson, the best is yet to come.
Who is, in your opinion, the Mt. Rushmore of overrated wrestlers?
Off the top of my head, I’d say, Jon Moxley, LA Knight, Jade Cargill, and The Ultimate Warrior.
Would you rather take a Clothesline from Hell from JBL or a lariat from Stan Hansen?
Both would be painful, but I think JBL has much better control over his move than Hansen ever could. It’d be a clothesline from Hell for me.
Darby Allin is the modern-day Mick Foley, but more hardcore and a better professional wrestler. Yes or no?
Darby does the crazy stuff, but has little of the psychology or ring awareness that Foley had. Mick is also far better with the promos and on the mic. Darby is more hardcore, but he’s not even close to being the professional wrestler that Mick Foley was.
With RAW going to 2 hours temporarily WWE should make PLEs 7-8 matches again. Yes or no?
I enjoy the 5-match PLE format, but a slight expansion to six or seven matches, if the matches make sense, wouldn’t hurt anything and would be a good thing.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap this up. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
