It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s roll.
Allegedly, AEW videos and PPVs are going to Max. Thoughts?
Works for me. If the PPV events are on Max, I most likely will try to watch them. They haven’t been good more often than not, but if it’s part of a streaming system I’m already subscribed to, I’ll still make an effort. Paying $40 or $50 bucks a show, I can’t justify it. I’m on a fixed income.
What wrestler would you NOT want to be stuck in an elevator with?
Matt & Nick Jackson. I’m sure they’re good dudes in person, but they just tend to annoy me.
Do you think AEW will still be around in five years? Do you think Tony Khan will still be the owner and booker?
As a company, I think the foundation and base have been established and AEW will still exist in five years. As for Tony, the pressure he’s under as part of his father’s NFL franchise, trying to do everything creatively in AEW, and just life in general, it has to be getting to him. Most normal people would have snapped long before now. He may still be the owner of AEW in five years, but he’s going to have to take a step back from the total leadership role and delegate some authority at some point. It’s inevitable.
Who are your top five wrestling podcasters/interviewers?
Right off the top of my head, my must-hear shows are Jim Cornette, Dutch Mantell, Chris Van Vliet, Konnan & Disco Inferno, and Stevie Richards.
Who should Logan Paul feud with next?
Logan Paul versus Drew McIntyre has an interesting feel to it and could be good. That’s the first name that popped into my head. Just imagine the back and forth of social media. It would be incredible.
Thoughts on Lilian Garcia? Would you like to see her back in WWE? Does she belong in the WWE HOF?
Lilian is a beautiful woman and was the face of WWE in terms of announcing for a very long time. She was unique and talented, and few were in her league. I’d love to see her back in WWE for special events, such as the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event. Lilian is an attraction now and less is more, so use her at the most important moments only. And yes, she does belong in the WWE HOF.
Shouldn’t Bryan Danielson want revenge on Moxley & Claudio more than anything right now? So why is he wrestling Nigel instead?
One would think that being jumped by two friends, who then attempted murder, would piss a guy off, but Danielson seems more focused on helping Nigel make a return. It’s AEW and Tony Khan booking at its best. It makes no damn sense.
According to Fightful, Zilla Fatu, who is the son of Umaga, has signed with AEW. Thoughts?
I’ll believe it when I see Fatu debut on Dynamite and beat up a masked luchador. Until then, I’m taking this breaking news with a grain of salt.
What song should be the official theme song for WrestleMania 41 from Las Vegas next year?
The song that immediately popped into my head was ‘Let’s Go All The Way’, by Sly Fox. I’m not sure how it would fit, but I’ve been on an 80s kick as of late and it’s just a damn good and catchy song. ‘Unbelievable’ by EMF would be fun to see used in some way as well.
Paul Wight, aka The Big Show, says that he hopes to have a final run, somewhat like Sting. Thoughts?
I’ve seen the video of Wight and that surgically repaired knee and it’s painful to watch. If he does return to the ring, I think we’re looking at maybe one match and not an entire program or run. I don’t think he’s physically capable of more than that. As for hoping for a Sting-like build and finale, there is only one Sting and it’s not one size fits all. Wight would be much better off to make plans that fit his image and character and worry less about what Sting did or didn’t do.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Be prepared for a lot of these over the next day or so. I was only in the hospital for three days, but the wrestling world never slows down and my inbox has a lot of questions waiting. I’ll try to not overwhelm you, but I need to tackle these. Questions, comments, and thoughts are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Back soon with more stuff. Who loves you, baby? I’ll see you at the matches.
