It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s rock!
The Young Bucks, Nick & Matt Jackson, ran into Shane McMahon at the airport in NYC and posed for a picture. Coincidence or more?
It’s just a coincidence. Shane might not be under contract to WWE right now, but he’s still loyal to the family legacy and his sister. I’ll only believe Shane is a part of AEW when he shows up on Dynamite. And even then, I’ll still have my doubts.
Was Ric Flair always supposed to be the Black Scorpion?
The way I understand it, the whole concept of the Black Scorpion was Ole Anderson being sarcastic and Jim Herd taking him seriously. As for who, I know Angel of Death, from World Class, and Al Perez were considered, but it ended up being Flair. That wasn’t the original plan, but just how things worked out.
Shane McMahon joining AEW would be the final nail in the coffin of an alternative wrestling product. That’s a WWE lite move. Yes or no?
It wouldn’t help AEW in the big picture of things and yes, it would seem more like a Vince McMahon move rather than a Tony Khan idea. But then again, Tony seems to be turning more and more into a little Vince every day so who knows?
Malakai Black’s contract with AEW is expiring in early 2025, according to Raj Giri. What are your interest levels in seeing him return to WWE?
I keep seeing that WWE has an interest in Black, but for myself, my interest level is near zero. Buddy Matthews, just for the Rhea connection, I could get behind. But as for Black, I’m just not feeling it.
These NXT/TNA crossovers are great but I’ve never felt the risk of a title change. Do you think we will see a rival company hold one of the other’s belts?
It may happen or it may not. That’s what makes these crossovers so good. Joe Hendry has already gotten a title match on NXT so it’s not out of the realm of possibility. I think it will happen eventually. After all, this is professional wrestling and never say never.
Asuka versus Sherri Martel. Who wins?
Sherri is a wrestling legend and icon in every sense of the word, but Asuka is a better all-around wrestler, faster, stronger, and more skilled. Queen Sherri would have a great match, but the Empress of Tomorrow would get the win.
What is Xavier Woods’s ceiling, absolutely best-case scenario?
Woods is a good talker and charismatic character who, I believe, has only scratched the surface of what he’s capable of. I can easily see Woods making the transition to announcer or manager when he eventually retires. As for his ceiling, it would not surprise me to see Woods as Intercontinental or United States Champion at some point. It’s not even if, but just when. It should happen one day.
What rebrand/ gimmick change killed a wrestler’s career and which gimmick change saved a wrestler’s career?
A gimmick that killed a career? Terry Taylor as the Red Rooster, plus Joe Hennig as Michael McGuillicutty were the first two that came to mind. As for gimmicks that saved a career, Glen Jacob’s transformation from Issac Yankum to Kane, as well as Jack Perry’s move from Jungle Boy to The Scapegoat seems to be working in his favor as well.
What are the chances of 3MB reuniting during the Hell in a Cell match to take out Punk?
I don’t think this will happen, but if Jinder and Heath Slater were to show up and help Drew take out Punk, I’d be very happy. I would love to see a 3MB reunion. It would be awesome.
Who would win in a match between Jeff Jarrett and CM Punk and what type of match would you put them in?
Punk would win since he’s the bigger star now. As for the kind of match, how about Chicago Street Fight? Sorry, but that’s the first thing that came to mind.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up for now. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
