It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s roll.
Who from the modern wrestling scene would you have wanted to see face off against Eddie Guerrero?
Eddie versus Seth Rollins would make for an excellent match. Eddie versus Dominik Mysterio? Just imagine how that would go over. And Eddie versus Austin Theory could be pretty good too.
AEW is tacking on injury time to Rey Fenix’s contract, which is nearly but not quite one year. Tony Khan made Fenix & Penta significant offers to stay, but they wouldn’t sign a new deal. Thoughts?
It’s petty, but it’s business and I don’t see anything wrong with it. WWE has been doing this for some time now and now, despite saying otherwise, AEW is doing the same thing. Tony Khan doesn’t want Penta & Fenix going to WWE and he’s using legal means to delay it from happening. If I was Tony, I’d probably do the same thing.
Who is Seth Rollins’s greatest rival in WWE?
I’d go with either John Cena or Cody Rhodes for that honor/distinction.
Is Asuka on the GOAT list?
I think that goes without saying. Asuka set records with her title reign in NXT, plus has had outstanding matches and runs for the duration of her WWE career and wrestling in general. Asuka would be in the argument for GOAT for any discussion about women’s wrestling.
Where would you choose if you could pick a dream venue to host a future WrestleMania event?
Just for the sake of history, I’d love to see something happen in Greensboro, NC. Wembley Stadium is obviously on the list, and I’d love to see at least one more Mania in Madison Square Garden too.
Hulk Hogan has claimed that Bobby Heenan was a better wrestler than Bret Hart, Randy Savage, and Ricky Steamboat combined. “[Bobby Heenan] was better than Bret Hart, Macho Man, and Rick Steamboat combined. He was better in the ring than anybody I’ve ever seen.” Thoughts?
I hate to agree with Hogan, but from everything that I’ve ever seen of Heenan as a manager or heard anyone speak of The Brain, he was a great in-ring wrestler and took bumps better than anyone. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, and in this case, I believe Hogan knows what he’s talking about. If this is what Hogan believes, who am I to disagree?
Arn Anderson versus Pedro Morales. Who wins?
Arn, in his prime versus the Pedro of the early 70s, this match would be a barn burner and epic. The styles weren’t that different, and the physical tools were similar as well. This would be a good match from a wrestling-clinic point of view. I think Pedro would get the win.
There are rumors about WWE establishing another PC Center in Las Vegas, NV. Thoughts?
Considering that Vegas is the home of WWE’s parent company TKO, this makes sense. It may be an expensive location for a bunch of rookie wrestlers, but it makes sense in the big picture of things> I think LA would work better for a West Coast version of the PC, but I can see why Vegas is their preferred location.
How would you rank Prince Nana as a wrestling manager on a scale of 1-10?
Nana has been around for a while and I guess he’s okay, but he doesn’t strike me as impressive and ready for the exposure one gets in a company like AEW. Nana as a manager at the local Indy promotion? I get it. But he’s not what one would expect for the big leagues. He’s strictly outlaw mud show at most. I’d give him a five.
What if all the Shane McMahon hype with AEW is a swerve? What if, instead of Shane McMahon, we get Jim Cornette? Or Vince Russo? Thoughts?
It would definitely work out better for AEW if that turns out to be the case. Cornette adds common sense and wrestling to the product, while Russo knows how to write a story and work a watchable television format. Shane has his name and a habit of jumping off of tall things, something already featured quite prominently in AEW by so many others. To see Cornette or Russo pop up on AEW television would be a must-see moment and I would pop so hard for either of them. I’d pop for Shane as well, but it would be mostly downhill from there.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
