I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A, the only wrestling Q&A that matters. No question is off limits and I’ll never lie to you. My name isn’t Meltzer. So are you ready? Let’s rock!
Do you think Daniel Garcia will remain with AEW or sign with WWE?
Given the past year in AEW and the pettiness that Tony Khan seems to be showing more often as of late, WWE is probably the best option once free of the AEW contract. Garcia has established a name with AEW, but in the big picture of things, a move to WWE or if that doesn’t work out, TNA or MLW, just makes more sense to develop and grow. If he remains in AEW, he’s essentially peaked already.
Daniel Garcia, Ricky Starks, and Aaron Solo versus The Young Bucks & Jack Perry. Who wins?
I know who I’d prefer to see win, but this would be a squash match and a victory by the New Elite, to set an example for the boys.
Book a tag team match with one team from the past competing with a current team. It can be from any company from any era.
The Midnight Express (Eaton & Lane) w/ Jim Cornette versus The New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston) w/ Big E. Regardless of who wins, and it would probably be the New Day, you know it’d be a fantastic match.
Will Chad Gable ever receive the push he deserves? Since his heel turn, he has lost at MITB, every IC title shot, got shot to death by the Wyatt Sicks and is now more of a manager in the lower mid-card. Maybe a trade to SmackDown would help his elevation.
Gable is being treated with respect and appears on television regularly. The current WWE roster is so strong that it’s hard to find a spot for everyone, yet Gable is managing to maintain a prominent spot on the roster. I don’t think he has any complaints.
Do you have any thoughts on Piper Niven?
Piper is very underrated in the ring and is quite a good wrestler when given the chance. I’m enjoying her partnership with Chelsea Green and they have a small, but significant role every week on television. Piper is the quiet one who doesn’t get the attention all the time, but when needed, she can step up in any role and do it well. I think she’ll have a long and excellent career in WWE for many tears to come.
Meltzer said that Thunder Rosa had been cleared to return to action in AEW. Rosa called him out, saying she was not cleared and that when she was, she’d let him know. Thoughts?
Just Uncle Dave being Uncle Dave and this time, Rosa called him out on it. Meltzer regularly speculates or just makes up stuff, presenting it as fact and hoping that no one will notice. Well, someone noticed. Oops!
Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair will be hosting WWE Bad Blood. Thoughts?
This keeps the two lovely WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions in the spotlight as part of the PLE event, while most likely helping to set up their next feud or title defense. It’s how a wrestling promotion builds stars without overexposure or meaningless matches that go nowhere or mean nothing. Good move by WWE for Jade and Bianca.
Mercedes Mone says she deserves to be the highest-paid women’s wrestler in the world. Thoughts?
I’d love some of whatever she’s smoking or drinking. Whatever Mercedes has to tell herself to sleep at night, so be it. She must have gotten into Tony’s stash.
What are your thoughts on Rob Conway?
I always liked Rob Conway back in the day when he was a regular on Sunday Night Heat. A talented wrestler and a good presence, Conway was a solid performer. WWE never saw him as a big star, but he was a multi-time OVW Champion, as well as a future NWA World Champion. Maybe it was just the wrong time and wrong place, but Conway had all the makings of an excellent professional wrestler. I was a big fan.
MLWs Rogue Horsemen (Brock Anderson, CW Anderson, Bobby Fish, and Brett Ryan Gosselin) versus The Four Horsemen (Ole Anderson, Arn Anderson, Ric Flair, and Tully Blanchard) w/ James J. Dillon. Who wins?
No offense to the kids, but the old men would decimate the new generation of Horsemen. It wouldn’t even be close in my estimation. The Four Horsemen, the REAL Horsemen, would win.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up for now. I’m Doug and I truly do appreciate all the support and love. Take care and I’ll see you at the matches.
