It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. And away we go.
Who, from the past, would you have wanted CM Punk to face either in the ring or in a promo battle?
CM Punk, in his straight-edge prime, versus a prime Texas Rattlesnake Steve Austin would have been great. A promo battle against Jim Cornette would have been fun. And hell, how about Punk versus Flyin’ Brian Pillman?
Tony Khan is teasing a big announcement for Wednesday night on Dynamite, which also happens to be the 5th Anniversary of the show. What do you think the announcement will be?
I’m suspecting that he’ll announce something about the new TV deal with WBD. Maybe we’ll get a huge new debut of the legendary character Captain Insano? Whatever it is, I’m sure it will be big.
What is your take on Tony Khan telling the Busted Open audience that long-form stories don’t work for AEW?
They don’t work for Tony because he doesn’t know how to write or book them. If a competent booker was given the chance, I’m sure he’d be proven wrong, although he’d never admit it. WWE has already proven that narrative wrong. Tony just doesn’t want to admit it.
Leilani Kai & Judy Martin versus Chelsea Green & Piper Niven. Who wins?
Two of the top ladies of the 80s against two of the most talented women in WWE today. The clash of styles would be strong, but the match itself could be mighty good. I am a huge fan of Chelsea and Piper, but I think the two veterans, Kai & Martin, would take this match.
What are your thoughts on Maxxine Dupri?
At first, I didn’t think much of her and thought she was a waste, but I can see her gradually improving. She’s not ready to lead the Women’s division, but she’s growing into her role as part of Alpha Academy. She’s someone worth keeping an eye on.
Who had the better frog splash? Eddie Guerrero or RVD?
With all due respect to RVD, when I think of the frog splash, Eddie is the first name that comes to mind.
Who would be on your Mt. Everest of Women Wrestlers pre-1980?
Off the top of my head, I’d go with Moolah, Penny Banner, Ann Casey, and Sue Green.
What are your thoughts on the Four Horsewomen (Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Becky Lynch)? Overhyped or live up to the hype?
I think all four women have lived up to the hype and have had great careers. Charlotte, Bayley, and Becky continue to have great careers. Sasha, once she left the protection and assistance of the WWE machine and tried to do it on her own, not quite so much.
The Miz & Maryse have put their home up for sale for $12,000,000. Wouldn’t it be funny if R-Truth pulled a Hangman Page/AEW and tried to burn it down?
It would be funny. Maybe we’ll luck up and get a YouTube short parodying the AEW Swerve vs Page arson incident as part of the Miz/Truth feud. If they were in AEW, they probably would have already done it.
What are your thoughts on Jake Hager? Would you be interested in seeing him return to WWE?
I’ve always been a fan of Hager, although I’ll be the first to admit that his previous four years as part of AEW were less than impressive. He was Chris Jericho’s sidekick. But Hager is a good wrestler and has a lot of potential. I’m not sure how he’d do without Dutch Mantell to back him up in the WWE, but I think he could have a good run. I’d like to see him have one last run in the WWE. It’d be interesting to see what he could do. We the People!
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up for now. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
