It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug and this is how we do it. Let’s roll.

Harley Race, Dick Slater, and Cowboy Bob Orton versus Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens & Randy Orton. Who wins?

The trio of Race, Slater, and Orton was responsible for taking out Ric Flair during the tremendous build for the first Starcade in 1983. And of course, Cody, Randy, and Owens are a popular threesome in today’s WWE. All are Hall of Fame worthy and have that aura of being timeless legends. A match like this could go either way. I think Cody and his friends would win the match. I think the Harley squad would get their heat back in a post-match attack and beatdown. The real winners would be the fans. This match would be epic.

Who would you say was Ric Flair’s greatest rival?

It’s a hard choice since there are so many great names. Blackjack Mulligan, Wahoo McDaniel, Roddy Piper, Harley Race, Hulk Hogan, Dusty Rhodes, Rick Steamboat, Bret Hart, etc. I guess I’ll go with what Flair himself has said many times. Let’s go with Sting.

You are stranded on a desert island and you can pick any one wrestler, past or present, to help you survive. Who do you pick and why?

I’ll say, Vince McMahon. No matter what Vince does or where he tries to lay low, the press will always show up and find him. With that in mind, just tell Vince to make a controversial statement and the IWC will show up to rescue us and blast Vince on the internet.

The delusional one, Timeless Toni Storm, claims that she once had a three-month affair with Stan Hansen in Japan. Thoughts?

I like this. She’s been looking for Wendi Richter and now, she’s claiming an affair with Stan Hansen. The Timeless character may not be all of that in the ring, but the promos and character itself continue to be different than anything else in wrestling and amusing. I just wonder what Stan Hansen thinks about all of this?

What are your thoughts on Terry Taylor?

Wrestling’s original Vanilla Midget. Taylor was a good wrestler and in my opinion, the perfect mid-card talent. Taylor was so generic, but he had a charm about him and a good presence. Bad gimmicks, such as the Red Rooster, The Taylor-Made Man, and the like killed his credibility with the fans, but he could always be counted on for steady and reliable matches and promos. Never a World Champion, but always ready to challenge and keep things moving. Taylor was a good guy.

NWA Owner Billy Corgan recently sent out a message to former NWA Champion/current WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce that, when he’s ready, he should come be in an NWA ring again. Thoughts?

The NWA is just hanging on and having a current WWE talent, even if it’s just the General Manager, making an appearance, would be a great shot in the arm for the promotion. I doubt that Pearce can do it, but it would be cool.

Mighty Igor versus Bronson Reed. Who wins?

I’m sure that most fans today barely remember Igor, but the simple-minded former AWA Champion was strong. Very strong. Almost childlike in his character, Igor was just pure raw muscle that would put Mark Henry to shame. One of my earliest memories of wrestling on TV was watching Igor literally bounce Crusher Blackwell, who was easily 400 lbs or more, around the ring like a basketball. Igor was a freak of nature. Reed is good and getting better all the time. He’s a future big star for WWE and a guy to keep an eye on. Igor would win this one though. Of that, I have no doubt.

Thoughts on NXT and their debut on the CW tonight? How would you rate the debut show?

I didn’t watch the show live. I was watching the Vice Presidential debate. But I went back and watched the highlights on YouTube, and read all of the recaps. And if WWE keeps up this kind of momentum, I expect that the partnership with NXT and the CW will be a very fruitful one for many years to come. Good matches, good stories, and a strong debut. Based on what I did see, on a scale of 1-10, I’d give it an 8.0.

Who would you like to see step up and challenge new NWA Champion Thom Latimer?

I expect that EC3 will get some rematches and those should be excellent. I’d like to see former NWA Champion Matt Cardona show up and stir the pot for a few weeks. And how about Joe Hennig? I would love to see the former Curtis Axel show up and give Latimer a run for his money, proving to everyone what WWE never seemed to realize and how good he truly is.

Selina Majors aka Bambi versus Toni Storm. Who wins?

Majors was an excellent wrestler for her time and had a good strong promo and character. I don’t know if she was famous enough or flashy enough to be in Toni Storm’s world of delusion, but she was certainly worthy based on her in-ring skills. This would be a decent match. I think Toni’s character would find a way to win. It’d be an intriguing and fun match to see, but Timeless would win this time.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, or any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
