It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s roll.
Jake Hager recently said that there was no more selfish person in the wrestling industry than Sting. Thoughts?
Jake said this in comparison to how often his buddy, Chris Jericho, works with younger talents in comparison to Sting. And I’ll admit that I can’t think of an instance where Sting did go out of his way to help build a new star, except for maybe Darby. But it’s a harsh statement and I can easily think of many people in the wrestling business who had the big egos and were more selfish, as I am sure you can too… Brutha!
Name a wrestler that defines the city they are from.
CM Punk and Chicago. The Crusher & Milwaukee. Jimmy Valiant and New York City. Those are the first three names that immediately came to mind.
Sammy Guevera was injured during his match against Serpentico before the AEW Dynamite show last night. Thoughts?
Sammy is often reckless, but given how rarely he wrestles, I’m only surprised this doesn’t happen more often. Working only maybe four or five matches in the past six months, he’s rusty and accidents tend to happen. I hope Sammy is okay and send wishes for a speedy and painless recovery.
If WWE were to bring back Tough Enough, who would you want as the ‘Head Coach’ and trainers? One ‘star’ and four trainers.
Based on the current WWE roster and who would be available, the head person, in my opinion, would be CM Punk. He’s a top guy who would draw ratings and given how much he’s at the Performance Center and coaching, he’d be the perfect head coach. As for his four trainers, I’d go with Natalya, current WWE agent Tyson Kidd, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, and Sheamus.
Will Dominik Mysterio be the person to take the Intercontinental Championship off Jey Uso? If not, then who?
Dom as the IC Champion? Heads would explode and the WWE Universe would go absolutely insane. Given how Jey has recently aligned himself with Rhea and Priest, getting involved in Judgment Day business, it makes sense. Even if the belt is hot-shotted and Dom only manages to steal it for a month or so before Jey gets the belt back, this would be awesome. I’m literally getting goosebumps thinking about it. Let’s go with Dom for a short reign, taking out Uce. YEET!
MVP offered Mercedes Mone his card on AEW Dynamite. Would you be interested in seeing a Mercedes alliance with MVP?
Mercedes is failing badly in AEW and needs something to help reboot her character. Maybe being part of a faction and the addition of MVP as her advisor would help. It sure as hell couldn’t hurt. I’d like to see it happen.
Cody Rhodes recently said that the WrestleMania 41 main event will be, “Bigger than anyone anticipated”. Any thoughts on this?
There is so much craziness and good stuff going on in WWE right now, that I’m not even thinking about WrestleMania much as of yet. Cody says it will be big. Good for us. Let’s worry about Bad Blood right now and I’ll worry about Mania once we get closer to the event.
If you could bring back any past PPV, which one would you bring back and why?
I’d go with Slamboree: A Legend’s Reunion, from the WCW days. It’d be a chance to make a weekend about legends and nostalgia for the WWE. Have the PLE on Saturday, move the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony to Sunday, and then do RAW as a reunion/tribute show on Monday. It’d clear up some of the schedule from WrestleMania weekend and be a great time for the older or more casual fans. That would be my pick.
If you could pick any five surprises for the Royal Rumble, three men and two women, who would you book?
Off the top of my head, for the Men’s Royal Rumble, I’d go with Marcus “Buff” Bagwell, Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner, and Disco Inferno. And for the Women’s Rumble, I’d try to get Victoria and Awesome Kong/Kharma.
So I was at AEW Grand Slam, and the referees in several of the matches botched a 3 count. Once by not counting the “3”. Whose shoulders does this fall on? The referees for not counting? The wrestlers for not “kicking out” Or just bad TK booking?
It’s bad refereeing and makes everyone look bad in the process, but the fault has to lie with management and the booker, in this case Tony Khan. If the referees or wrestlers are not doing what they’re supposed to be doing, management must let them know and make sure that they fix the problem and don’t do it again. Tony doesn’t do that and the same mistakes continue over and over.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. I won’t have any more editions of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A up until late Saturday or Sunday so I’m giving you a break. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
