I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. No question is off-limits and I’m here for you, my friends. Are you ready? Let’s roll.
Oba Femi says he would love to see a WWE ‘PLE’ in Africa. Thoughts?
He’s not wrong. WWE has been expanding its schedule to incorporate more nations and countries like South Africa, Egypt, etc., which would be awesome. It would be so different from anything else, and such a unique situation. Femi is right and let’s hope WWE has a few African locations on their list.
Do you think Moxley at WrestleDream will be Bryan Danielson’s last match?
The match happened and Moxley won. From all reports, this is said that this is Danielson’s last match until he’s had his surgery and is in better health. I think we’ve seen Danielson’s last match.
Rhea Ripley has agreed to a new five-year extension to her WWE contract. Thoughts?
That is great news. Rhea is on fire and is currently one of the hottest acts in WWE. WWE knows that they have a great thing with Rhea and are smart to sign her up early. Congratulations to Rhea and here is a thumbs up to many years of Mami always being on top.
WWE needs an interviewer like Mean Gene Okerlund used to do. Do you agree? And who would you suggest for the spot?
I think an interviewer working in the style of Mean Gene Okerlund would do very well in today’s WWE. I know they’re trying to use the girls to do backstage interviews and be personalities. That’s all well and good, but an over-the-top character to handle the big moments and interviews would work in my opinion. As for who, I can’t think of any certain person off the top of my head. Maybe bring in an old-school name like Zbyszko, Jesse Ventura, or Jonathan Coachman? I’m drawing a blank here, but that gimmick would still work.
The Colossal Kongs, managed by Harley Race, versus The Authors of Pain, managed by Paul Ellering. Who wins?
AOP would win. Despite the presence of Harley, the Kongs were bad. Bad! They sucked so bad. AOP aren’t great, but they have some potential and can have good matches. I never saw The Colossal Kongs being able to do that.
Thoughts on Bruiser Bob Sweetan?
I mainly only know Sweetan from the Apter Mags, but the impression that I get is that he was not a good person. Rough in the ring, but an absolute dick outside of that. I know that after his wrestling days, he had lots of trouble with the law and was allegedly involved in some nasty stuff.
Jimmy Jacobs, known to be Tony Khan’s right-hand man, has left AEW. Thoughts?
I’ve only just seen this and I don’t know what’s going on in AEW. Jacobs is a smart guy and knows the wrestling business. Having him there to help guide Tony was probably a good thing, but I expect that political feathers may have been ruffled. There are a few EVPs in AEW who I assume don’t like competition and may have caused dissension between Jacobs & Tony. I guess we’ll just have to watch and see how this story develops.
What are your thoughts on Pretty Boy Carl Fergie?
I know that Fergie was Jerry Lawler’s cousin and worked as a wrestler and then a referee for USWA. I mainly know him from brief mentions in the Apter Mags, but I also do remember seeing him work a short run for Crockett in the very early 80s. Fergie and Ox Baker were the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions, but they were rarely on television. I think I remember seeing Fergie and Ox on the promotional stuff about upcoming matches, but never saw them wrestle as a team on TV. I saw Fergie work a few matches as an enhancement talent where he looked good but always did the job. Most people wouldn’t remember Fergie, but I sort of do.
The Boogeyman was backstage at WWE Smackdown this past Friday night. Why?
Boogeyman was probably there to visit friends and negotiate a Legend’s Contract. After all, who doesn’t love The Boogeyman?
So MxM brought Rico in as their new manager. Does that mean Billy Gunn will be bringing in Chuck Palumbo as his partner for a match against MxM? Thoughts on the return of Rico to professional wrestling?
I popped big time to see the return of Rico to the ring and went and watched the live stream of the AEW Kickoff Show to see the match with MxM and the Acclaimed just because of his return. Rico was such a memorable and fun character back in the day. The last I heard from a couple of years ago was that Rico was in very bad health and near death’s door, so to see him return out of nowhere like that, it’s an awesome moment. Palumbo & Billy versus MxM. Palumbo has been retired since 2012 and now builds motorcycles, but I’m sure, if the incentive was right, he could be convinced to make a cameo or something of that nature. Even if it’s not wrestling again, A Chuck & Billy w/ Rico reunion would be fun to see. I’m just happy that Rico seems healthy and has been given a second chance. He’s one of the good ones.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And that wraps it up for now. I need to go fold clothes. Happy Columbus Day. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
