I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s rock!
I just heard that AEW Rampage and Battle of the Belts have been canceled by TNT and will stop airing at the end of the year. Thoughts?
I haven’t seen any notices about this by reputable sites that I trust so I’ll believe it when I see it. While the ratings for Rampage, and Collision for that matter, are abysmal, they’re still drawing some fans and I can’t believe that WBD signed a new deal with AEW only to cancel shows this quickly. I don’t think that’s true.
Randy Orton or Diamond Dallas Page?
For what? Of the two wrestlers, I prefer Randy. He’s younger and strikes me more as a legit superstar. Who has the better finisher? The RKO comes out of nowhere and is always exciting, but I prefer to see people feel the BANG!
Mt. T versus Pat McAfee. Who wins?
Mr. T in his prime was a bad dude. Hell, he’s still a bad dude. But in that wrestling ring, McAfee took the time, learned the moves, and is pretty impressive in his own right. If they were in an alley beating the hell out of each other, I’d go with T, but in a wrestling match, I’m with Pat for the win.
Motor City Machine Guns have defeated The Bloodline to become the NEW Tag Team Champions! Thoughts?
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are a fantastic tag team, and while getting titles in their third WWE match might be rushing things for most wrestlers, given the context of the victory and the revenge of Jey Uso, it makes sense. I like it.
AEW Dynamite had 637,000 viewers. NXT had 702,000 viewers. The WWE developmental brand has beaten AEW’s main show 4 weeks in a row. Thoughts?
It means that NXT is putting out shows that more fans want to watch and see, while AEW, maybe not so much. Tony Khan needs to take notice and step up his game or TNA will be moving into the #2 promotional spot while WBD frowns and starts asking questions. It’s definitely not a good look or spot for AEW.
Hulk Hogan says he turned down Cher and Madonna because he was married at the time. Thoughts?
In the case of Madonna, Hogan probably didn’t want any social diseases. And Hogan would have been too old for Cher, even then. I think he might not be telling the truth.
Is Kyle Fletcher the future of AEW?
He’s been looking impressive as of late and seems to be the new flavor of the month in AEW so he may very well be the future of the company. He has the talent and skills and if he can keep Tony’s eye and attention for any significant length of time, he could have a nice run with the company. We’ll just have to watch and see.
Ryback recently said that he doesn’t ever want to talk to Vince McMahon again. Thoughts?
I doubt that Vince has any desire to speak to Ryback either. Very few people in wrestling, be it AEW, WWE, TNA, or any place else, actually do. Vince is probably relieved to hear this. I know I would be. Ryback? Who cares?
Do you think John Cena’s final WrestleMania match should headline one of the nights?
That’s a tough call and would depend on who the opponent is, the quality of the other matches being considered for the top spot of each evening, and what John does or doesn’t want to do. There are so many factors to be considered first.
What are your thoughts on Trevor Murdoch?
A good wrestler who is a throwback to the 70s and 80s and has no right to be as successful as he has been. I like Murdoch as he was a student of Harley Race and you see many pieces of Harley in the way Murdoch carries himself, talks, and wrestles. There is nothing flashy with Murdoch. What you see is what you get, but if you liked old-school wrestling, he carries the traditions very well. He’s a cool dude.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up for now. I need to go get clothes out of the dryer. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
Ubuntu!
