It’s Election Day here in the United States. Be sure to VOTE! This is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. This edition is dedicated to Peanut the Squirrel. RIP Peanut! Let’s dothis.
Is Buddy Landel worth watching?
Nature Boy Buddly Landel was a very talented wrestler. He indeed had his demons, but the guy was solid and entertaining. I think using the Nature Boy gimmick and coming across as a poor man’s Ric Flair hurt him more than it helped, but Landel was a very capable superstar. For a great example of how good he could be, I’d suggest everyone watch his match against Shawn Michaels from Smokey Mountain Wrestling’s Superbowl of Wrestling in August 1985. It’s a fantastic match.
Marko Stunt announced his retirement from professional wrestling. Thoughts?
We all joke and pick about Marko, but this makes me sad. Marko is a little guy, but he has energy and spunk. He never failed to entertain and was consistently one of the best talents featured on Sammy Guevera’s VLOG. I know he’s heartbroken, but he has to put his physical health first and has. Maybe there will be a place for him as a manager or podcaster in the future. I hope so. Best wishes, Marko. Hang in there.
Create a wrestling stable, but every member must share your initials. Can you do it?
Easily. Let’s go with Dean Malenko, Don Muraco, Dutch Mantell, Dominick Mysterio, and Dick Murdoch, with Debra (Madusa) Micelli as the manager. Does that work?
Ladder Match with Shawn Michaels versus Randy Savage. Who wins?
The Heartbreak Kid versus The Macho Man. This would fall into dream match territory. Too bad these men never crossed paths because it would be awesome. It’s a tough call that could easily go either direction. My gut says Macho would win so let’s go with that. Macho Man wins.
The Usos, Jimmy & Jey Uso, versus The Anderson Brothers, Ole & Gene. Who wins?
Jimmy and Jey are the modern-day team with the speed advantage. Their teamwork and those kicks are deadly. Ole & Gene are the tough old bastards with one speed and one direction. They just grab an arm and beat you down. You can’t find two teams that are more polar opposites. It’d be a fun and competitive match, but my gut says that Ole & Gene would just keep moving straight ahead and beat The Usos down. Jimmy & Jey have never faced a team like The Anderson Brothers. Ole and Gene would play dirty and cheat, but they’d also win.
Bill Goldberg announced that he will have a retirement match in 2025. Do you think it will be against Gunther? If it’s not Gunther, who would you like to see Goldberg wrestle?
Given that he’s getting his last match via the WWE, it’s obviously going to be Gunther. That’s a no-brainer. But if for some reason Gunther was unable to do the match, the next best option would be Drew McIntyre.
Which title should John Cena go after for title # 17? The World Championship or the WWE Championship?
The WWE Champion is Cody, while the World Champion is Gunther. And the NXT Champion is Trick Williams. Don’t forget him. Of the three, I’d like to see Cena square off with Cody the most. That would be a good match.
What are your thoughts on Solo Sikoa pinning Roman Reigns?
It was necessary for the story to develop and continue. Roman, Jey, and Jimmy weren’t on the same page and it allowed Solo & friends to get the win. If Roman had pinned Solo, end of the story and no one wants that. This ending allowed Sami to get involved and now we’ve got more drama as we build to War Games. A good story/strategic move by the WWE.
How would you rate Crown Jewel on a scale of 1-10?
7 matches were announced with six matches taking place and a brutal no-contest between Randy and KO. The show moved well and every match was solid and watchable. That even includes the Women’s Tag Team Championship match, where Chelsea stole the show. Crown Jewel delivered on all counts. I’ll give it an 8.
Do you think Baron Corbin will end up in AEW?
I’d rather see him in TNA or even the NWA because he would be booked better, presented as a star, and allowed to be the best Baron Corbin he can be. I expect though that he’ll end up in AEW, make some incredible money, and after a few weeks of being featured, will fall into the mix and vanish. Corbin will go with the best financial offer and that will be AEW.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for Liv & Raquel in the parking lot. They’ll try to take your eye out faster than a Red Ryder BB Gun. I’ll see you at the matches.
