I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.

How do you feel about Iyo Sky being back chasing singles gold?

I’m cool with it. Iyo Sky is a talented wrestler and is much better as a single than being stuck in a tag team. I don’t see Iyo winning a Women’s Championship anytime soon, but it’s nice to see her back in the chase.

Has Seth Rollins felt like a big deal since returning at Summerslam to you?

Not really, but WWE has such a packed roster and so much talent, that it’s more of just getting lost in the shuffle than anything else. Seth is still a big star and adds to the program, but he does not stand out right now.

What are your thoughts and memories of Buzz Tyler?

I remember Tyler from his brief run with Crockett Promotions in the mid-80s. An average-looking guy with a beard and buzzcut. Tyler was a solid performer, but nothing special. I don’t know the details since this was before social media and the dirt sheets, but I remember Tyler was the Mid-Atlantic Champion, but he just seemed to disappear one day with the belt. It was probably a money dispute, but I’m speculating. He was part of JCP and getting featured regularly, but then he vanished. I saw him a few times on a local car commercial, still holding the Mid-Atlantic Championship belt, but he was gone from the promotion at this point. Tyler is a mystery. If I get bored one day, maybe I’ll try and learn what the deal was. But my thoughts and memories? That’s all I have right now.

Mercedes Mone is allegedly pushing AEW hard to run an all women’s PPV. Thoughts?

AEW doesn’t have enough competent women wrestlers to fill up a PPV. Even with help from CMLL, ROH, and New Japan, it would still be stretching things mighty thinly. And when you factor in that the average AEW PPV is over ten matches, it makes it even less likely. It would never work.

How would you feel if R-Truth was the one to retire his childhood hero, John Cena?

Sure. Why not. That sounds like a plan to me.

Is Demolition a Top 5 tag team of all time? Where would you rank them?

Top 5 of all time? Maybe to some, but all-time covers a lot of territory, and while they’d probably make my Top 20, too many other teams would come before them to make the Top 5. I’d probably rank them around #15 or in that general area.

What are your thoughts on The Ultimate Warrior?

Amazing energy and a great character, but not much of an actual wrestler. And based on some of his conduct away from the ring, he was kind of nuts and an ass-clown as well. He was the right man at the right time with the right gimmick for his success, but I was never a fan.

If you could go back in time and be the protege of one wrestling manager for one year, either Captain Lou Albano, General Skandor Akbar, or Sir Oliver Humperdink, which one would you pick and why?

I’d pick Sir Oliver Humperdink. Captain Lou is a legend, but the entire year would probably be spent babysitting the Captain and trying to keep us from getting fired. No real issues with Skandor Akbar, but I was never a big fan. Sir Oliver was a man that I was able to see live dozens of times while the House of Humperdink feuded against Jimmy Valiant. And later, we spoke a few times on FB and Twitter. And yes, the account was real as we had mutual friends who verified the legitimacy of his identity. Sir Oliver was a cool dude with a very dark/twisted sense of humor. He was a very nice guy too, plus one of the best territory managers of his era. So put a Dougie wing in the House of Humperdink. Works for me.

American Made (Chad Gable & The Creed Brothers) versus Team Angle (Kurt Angle, Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin). Who wins?

Chad Gable and the Creed Brothers are a great faction and all are excellent wrestlers. But can they compete against an Olympic Gold Medalist and arguably one of the best teams of that era, Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin? I don’t think so. Team Angle wins.

The Big Boss Man versus Damian Priest. Who wins?

What an odd match this would be. Priest is consistent, and methodical, and improves every time he wrestles. Boss Man was never pretty, but he was just pure power and straight-ahead mayhem. It’s a tough call, but I think The Big Boss Man would win.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, I’m through for now. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for the GORE! I’ll see you at the matches.
