I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. If you have questions, I have the answers. And no subject is off limits. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Do you have a favorite all-time tag team?
I have many favorite teams, such as Paul Jones & The Masked Superstar, The Anderson Brothers, The B Team, Arn & Tully, Arn & Zbyszko, etc., but my all-time favorite is Stan Lane & Bobby Eaton, aka The Midnight Express.
When do you think Paul Heyman will appear in the Bloodline story?
I’m expecting that Paul will make his return on TV either on the Smackdown before War Games or at the PLE itself.
Would Ricky Stark be better off debuting in NXT than the main roster if he signed with WWE?
If Starks does come to WWE, NXT would be a much better start for him to allow him to build a name for the WWE fans and give them a chance to learn more about him, plus it would give Starks a chance to learn the WWE styles and ways of doing things.
Does CM Punk win the world heavyweight title at WrestleMania next year?
I think Punk will eventually be the WWE or World Champion again. I’d do it at a Survivor Series marking the Anniversary of his original department from WWE and eventual return a decade later. It would just have more meaning that way, at least in my eyes.
Das Wunderkind Alex Wright appeared at a signing in New York and was a big hit. Wouldn’t it be cool to see Wright show up for an appearance at NXT or maybe in the Royal Rumble?
Alex Wright at the Rumble? I would love to see it happen.
Would you rather have Kenny Omega work a year, every week, every PPV as an ace for AEW, or five years on a Roman Reigns schedule?
Someone like Omega, especially after his recent medical issues, needs to be treated as a special attraction and protected. Five years on a Roman-like schedule would work better and more effectively for Omega and his character.
If Hobbs & Ricochet were to become a full-time tag team, what should their tag team name be?
I have no idea. Power Flight? Works for me.
How would you book a Cody Rhodes heel turn?
I wouldn’t. Cody has the arrogance to be a major heel, but it’s something that can’t be booked on purpose. If and when it happens, it has to be organically and naturally. Cody has a Cena-like aura about him and while he’s always going to have a strong base audience of supporters, he’ll have his detractors as well. Trying to manufacture a heel turn would go over as much as Stone Cold’s did in the Invasion Angle. It wouldn’t work. Just let Cody be Cody and some fans will cheer, while others not so much.
Who had a better career: Bret Hart or Eddie Guerrero?
Bret Hart and it’s not even close. Bret had multiple World Championship reigns in both WCW and WWE. Bret had a bidding war for his services. Bret is always in the argument when someone talks about a GOAT or Mt. Rushmore of professional wrestling. Eddie was great and had a fantastic career. He was loved by his fans and has never been forgotten. But placed side by side with Bret in a comparison of his career from start to finish, it’s not even a true contest.
Seth Rollins thinks WWE is in an “era of babyfaces” right now, with a lack of “good heels” on the current roster. Would you agree?
Seth is right. There are plenty of bad guys, but a true heel with no redeemable qualities? MJF might qualify, as would Drew McIntyre, but is there anyone else? Roman Reigns was to a point, but his long absence, plus his return to fight Solo and the new Bloodline, has changed him into a babyface. Bronson Reed is getting there as a heel too. But most wrestlers are not faces or heels but live in a grey area somewhere in between. Yes, Seth is correct.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up and move on. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
