It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s do this.
Would you like to see Kane (Glenn Jacobs) as part of President Trump’s cabinet?
Not really, no. I like Glenn Jacobs, but when he decides to move on in politics, I’d rather see him run for Governor or maybe a seat in the United States Senate. President Trump has plenty of good people to choose from for his Cabinet and my feeling is that Jacobs would be more beneficial in a different role.
NXT essentially did an ECW Appreciation Night with their show this past week from the ECW Arena. Would you like to see NXT have a similar show paying homage to WCW, maybe from Center Stage in Atlanta? Would it work?
An NXT card, but with stars like Booker T, Scott Steiner, Arn Anderson, and a few others sprinkled in for good measure? I think that would be a great way to generate ratings and maybe bring back a few of the old fans from the WCW days. Hell, even bring in Eric Bischoff for the night to help Ava make matches. It would not only work, but I’d love to see it.
Kurt Angle or Stone Cold Steve Austin?
As awesome as Kurt Angle is, in almost any category, given the choice between him and Austin, I’d go with Austin. And that’s the bottom line because I just said so.
Do you want to see one more match from RVD in WWE?
If he’s up to it and wants to do it, why not? It seems as if we’re heading that way on NXT anyhow.
Is it me or do you think the same? Is SAMI Zayn using HELLUVA KICK too much this month?
It’s Sami’s best move and what he’s most known for as having a finisher. Too much? What do you expect him to do? The worm? Sami isn’t using it too much. So long as he keeps connecting, he’s using it just enough.
Bully Ray says MJF would get “killed” by him if they competed on the microphone with no scripts. Thoughts?
I don’t think Bully is as good as he thinks he is, but he’s probably right. In an era of scripted and pre-written promos, an old-school guy like Bully has a huge advantage over most of the stars of today’s product. Someone like CM Punk could probably take Bully to task, but I think Bully could take MJF pretty easily.
Describe Claudio Castagnoli in two words or less.
Underrated Champion.
As outstanding and natural as he is as a heel, do you think there will ever be a time when we cheer on a baby face, Dominick Mysterio?
Whenever Dom and Rhea do their eventual reunion, with Dom coming to Rhea’s aid for something, the crowd will blow up and pop as they’ve never popped before. Or if Dom saves his deadbeat dad from an attack. Whichever you prefer. Dom is a great and natural heel, but when the turn eventually comes, it’ll be big beyond comparison.
If you could debut on AEW as a mystery tag partner to one wrestler there, who would you tag?
If I were to debut on AEW as someone’s partner, they’d have a really bad day considering that I only have one leg, spend most of my time using a wheelchair, and I’m fat and old. But then again, AEW did have a guy with no legs in their Battle Royal at one time so it might work after all. Which wrestler would I support and want to team with? I’d probably be teaming up with Sammy Guevera.
AEW’s Darby Allin states that ‘Superstar’ is a stupid term: “I think being a spokesperson for like the younger kids, you know being like, they can see me and relate. Like I’m not just coming into AEW and being like ‘Yo everything’s perfect I’m a superstar.’ I’m like ‘superstar’ is just such a stupid term. We’re like ‘You’re down here, we’re up here, we’re superstars’…no. I’m one of you who just like made it, you know what I mean, and you can make it too.” Thoughts?
Darby is dead wrong here. Pro wrestling in general and pro wrestlers are supposed to be larger than life for the fans. Using the term ‘superstars’ helps to showcase this and promote the wrestlers as someone you want to pay money to see perform. Wrestlers are supposed to be special attractions. Terms like ‘superstars’ help build and promote that. By making it as a professional wrestler, it does mean that you’ve achieved a special place and goal and should be acknowledged for that accomplishment. Maybe Darby doesn’t get that, but everyone else seems to. Darby is just wrong on this one.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, I’m out of here. I have clothes to go wash. Take care and I’ll see you at the matches.
Ubuntu!
