Thoughts & Predictions

Coming up tomorrow from Newark, New Jersey, is AEW Full Gear 2024. That means it’s prediction time. I’m Doug. Note: These matches are scheduled as of right now, Friday at 6:15 am. I’m sure that Tony will add more matches to the event, but I can only make predictions on the ones I currently know about. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
“Big Boom!” A.J. (with Big Justice) vs. Q. T. Marshall.
The Rizzler will serve as a special guest timekeeper.
Supposedly, Big Boom A.J. is famous online and likes to go viral for something or another. I’ve never heard of him, nor do I care to look him up. Q.T. Marshall deserves better than this, but he’s a company guy so I guess that doesn’t matter. Marshall got a diamond cutter on A.J. at the AEW tapings on Wednesday night so that means he’ll do the job come Saturday.
Winner: “Big Boom!” A.J.
MJF vs. Roderick Strong.
MJF is the heel that everyone loves to hate. Roderick Strong is looking for revenge. Guess what? He won’t get it. Look for MJF to cheat and maybe use that infamous ring of his. Whatever it takes, right? MJF wins.
Winner: MJF.
Jay White vs. “Hangman” Adam Page.
Why are these two fighting? I can’t even remember. But Page is on a roll since he started burning down homes and that streak will continue here.
Winner: Hangman Adam Page.
Four-way tag team match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) (c) vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd) vs. Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black and Brody King) vs. The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster).
Private Party just captured the titles a few weeks ago and it’s way too soon to take the belts away from Kassidy & Quen. So of course, that means new champions. The most popular option here would be The Outrunners. That means they won’t win. Everyone loves The Acclaimed, but they’ll have to survive on love alone. Their act is stale and they have no real momentum. So by process of elimination, let’s go with the Kings of the Black Throne, aka Malakai Black and Brody King, to win the match and capture the gold.
Winners and NEW AEW World Tag Team Champions: The Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black and Brody King).
AEW TBS Championship.
Mercedes Moné (c) (with Kamille) vs. Kris Statlander.
Let’s admit it. Mercedes has been a major bust for AEW since her debut. She’s bad on the mic and almost as bad in the ring. We need a break from her and she needs a major reboot. Let’s go with Kamille screwing up and distracting Mercedes, allowing Statlander to get the win. That works for me.
Winner and NEW AEW TBS Champion: Kris Statlander.
Swerve Strickland vs. Bobby Lashley.
They may be in Swerve’s house, but Bobby isn’t losing his first PLE match working for AEW. Look for a distraction as MVP and Shelton Benjamin harass Nana. That takes Swerve out of the moment and Lashley takes advantage with a Hurt Lock and the win.
Winner: Bobby Lashley.
AEW TNT Championship.
Jack Perry (c) vs. Daniel Garcia.
Daniel Garcia is a goof, but I don’t like Jack Perry. It’s time for Perry to drop that belt and move on to something else. That being said, I don’t see Garcia as the one who will take that belt from the Nepo-Baby. Look for Perry to make Garcia cry him a river as he retains his belt.
Winner and STILL AEW TNT Champion: Jack Perry.
Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher.
This should be a good match. Kyle has the momentum and should get the win, but Kyle also has Don Callis, which is kind of like having a reverse good luck charm. I’ll take Ospreay for the win.
Winner: Will Ospreay.
AEW International Championship.
Konosuke Takeshita (c) vs. Ricochet.
Ricochet made a debut and it’s been downhill ever since. Ric needs something huge to turn his trajectory around. Takeshita doesn’t need the belt and hell, even after all this time in AEW, most fans still couldn’t pick him out of a police line-up anyhow. I’m sensing a title switch.
Winner and NEW AEW International Champion: Ricochet.
AEW World Championship.
Jon Moxley (c) vs. Orange Cassidy.
I’m already tired of Moxley, but I can’t see Cassidy winning the belt here. Moxley and friends are just getting started and to cut the legs out from under him by taking away the belt, no matter how bad he’s become, would just be insane. I’m looking for everyone on the roster not already involved in a match to get involved and in the chaos, Moxley should find a way to win and retain his title.
Winner and STILL AEW World Champion: Jon Moxley.
And there you go. As I said earlier, I’m sure that Tony Khan will add more matches. After all, there are only ten matches advertised and we all know that an AEW PPV requires a minimum of at least 14 matches or it’s not official. But regardless, that’s what we have so far.
Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And I guess that’s all. Thanks for reading. I’ll see you at the matches.
Ubuntu!
And an update. I just saw on X that a match will be added to the Full Gear PPV. Can I say that I told you so? So let’s add it to the predictions.
Anna Jay versus Deonna Purrazzo.
Anna Jay gets better with each appearance. That time spent in Japan a few months ago is paying off. But what can we say about Deonna Purrazzo? A talented young woman with experience both in WWE and TNA, she’s a true keeper. Despite a mysterious absence over the past couple of months, I think Purrazzo is back now and ready for a good fight. I think this match with Anna Jay will fit the bill. I’m looking for Purrazzo to get the win.
Winner: Deonna Purrazzo.
And there you have it. Enjoy the PPV and I’ll catch you later.
