I’m Doug and it’s Monday. Just shoot me now. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Who is the bigger star between Roman Reigns and CM Punk?
The bigger star? Well, Roman is 6’3, while CM Punk is 6’1. So, that means Roman is the bigger star. As for who’s the most popular, it all depends on who you ask. In general, I think more people know of Roman Reigns.
Today is the 10th anniversary of Sting’s WWE debut. Thoughts?
WWE dropped the ball with Sting. Was it really ten years ago? Wow! Sting was brought in, given a small push by WWE, and buried at WrestleMania by Triple H. That whole run was nothing but an embarrassment and shame. This is one place that AEW did it right. They treated Sting with the respect he deserved. That whole WWE run should be forgotten.
Who do you think was behind the brutal attack on Jade Cargill?
If we have to assign blame to someone else, I think Charlotte Flair is the most likely suspect. Or maybe it’s Piper Niven, doing the bidding of Chelsea Green? No, I think we’ll go with Charlotte.
Macho Man Randy Savage versus Seth Rollins. Who wins?
Seth is the architect and visionary, but Savage is the Macho Man. It’d be a good match as both men wrestle similarly. The promos would be off the charts. And the intensity? Wow! I think Randy Savage would win here.
What’s your take on De La Hoya’s bold accusations? Do you think Jake Paul’s win was legit, or are we witnessing a boxing drama unfold?
What boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya is saying is that the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson was a work and fixed. And most viewers of that fiasco tend to agree. Maybe they didn’t have a script, but Tyson was pulling back when he had the advantage and feeding himself to Paul’s offense. Yeah, it’s a work and we’ll be seeing the fallout from this for many months to come.
What do you think about Ricky Starks’ passionate return to the spotlight with an appearance at GCW? Could this be a turning point in his career, or is there more to the story with AEW?
I think Ricky Starks is fed up and ready to come back to work. He’s making a statement. The ironic thing is that as a contracted AEW wrestler, Starks had to contact AEW management and get permission to appear at the GCW event. So, is this a shot at AEW or the start of a redemption program for Starks, maybe as the savior against the power that is Moxley and friends? Everything happens for a reason. The biggest question is, what is that reason? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
What’s your take on the rumors? Will The Acclaimed stay united, or is AEW hinting at a split?
Every great tag team has issues and breaks up at some point. I can’t see either member of the Acclaimed having a major single run. If they do break up, it’ll be a brief feud with each other, some minor pushes, and then obscurity. I think the potential teasing of a split has legs. It may happen, but not just yet.
Wheeler Yuta versus Brad Armstrong. Who wins?
What a random match this would be. Yuta is kind of there in AEW, working alongside the main eventers, but with no real identity or outstanding characteristics. Armstrong is easily recognized as one of the best in-ring performers of his era, but he never seemed to manage to get over with the national audiences. I think Brad Armstrong would score the win.
In your experience, do you see signs that WWE has peaked or is there a long way to go before they hit a wall?
In a normal world, WWE has peaked. But this is not a normal world, and with the addition of Netflix to the mix, anything is possible. Any ceiling that WWE may have had just got shattered. WWE still has plenty of room left for growth and expansion.
What are your thoughts on Stokley Hathaway?
I don’t have any thoughts. Hathaway is a manager for AEW who most recently was involved in a program with Kris Statlander, and aside from that, he seemingly just sits in catering waiting for someone to remember he’s even there. I do remember something about Hathaway allegedly being appointed as a management figure for ROH about a year or so ago, but that was quickly shelved and forgotten, just as he seems to have been by AEW Creative. My thoughts? He’s part of AEW and ROH. As for why, I haven’t got a clue.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll be back later with more stuff. I’ll see you at the matches.
