It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s roll.
Should One Man Gang/Akeem be in the WWE Hall of Fame?
One Man Gang had a great career both in WWE and all over the United States. The less said about Akeem, the African Dream, the better. But based on the legacy and career on its own merits, I’d have no problem seeing OMG inducted into the HOF. He wouldn’t be a headliner, but a good mid-card spot to fill out a list of inductees, he would be a good choice.
What are your thoughts on Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake?
I first remember seeing Ed Leslie, aka Brutus Beefcake, originally working for Crockett as Dizzy Hogan, several years before he went to WWE and became a wrestling Chippendales Dancer. Leslie was good as Beefcake and worked well in a tag team with Greg Valentine. The character was very over. Leslie eventually had the parasailing accident and left WWE soon afterward where he moved to WCW and became a human chameleon, as The Butcher, Zodiac, The Booty Man, and many others that I’ve forgotten. Leslie was underrated as a wrestler and was good both in the ring and on the mic. And Brutus Beefcake? That was the best character and gimmick of his entire career.
Since Ricky Starks isn’t allowed to wrestle in GCW, will Jon Moxley, MVP, Marina Shafir, and other AEW wrestlers still be allowed to wrestle for independent promotions like Bloodsport and GCW?
I’m not sure about GCW since Tony is mad at them, but I don’t think Tony will stop any bookings for his favorite wrestlers. I think Ricky Starks was the exception since he had been openly speaking up about not being used by the company and was ruffling a few feathers.
A 5-on-5 War Games match between AEW and GCW. Who’s on each team and who wins?
I think I’ve answered a variation of this question at least a dozen times already. But what the hell? I just noticed that it’s AEW and GCW and not the usual AEW versus WWE. My bad! For AEW, my team would be Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Jack Perry, MJF, and Swerve Strickland. For GCW, I’d go with Matt Cardona, Effy, Joey Janella, Josh Barnett, and Nick Gage. And the GCW guys would win when Ricky Starks gets involved and threatens Tony Khan, causing a distraction that allows Janella to steal a pinfall victory on Jack Perry.
Danhausen & Toni Storm versus Jimmy Garvin & Precious. Who wins?
Garvin is a much better wrestler than Danhausen. Storm is a much better wrestler than Precious. So that makes things more or less even. Let’s go on the experience factor. Garvin & Precious are a married couple and used to working together. Danhausen and Storm would be like oil and waterhausen. Jimmy Garvin and Precious would get the win.
Eric Bischoff recently said that there is “No hope for AEW” and that “nothing’s going to turn their company around”. Thoughts?
There is always hope that something might happen and turn AEW around. True that the odds are getting worse every week, but no one wants AEW to fold and go away. They just need some major changes and restructuring in everything but name to get to where they should be. I’m hoping that Eric is wrong on this for everyone’s sake.
AEW has an upcoming taping of Dynamite being held in Louisville, KY, the hometown of Jim Cornette. Should Cornette crash the show?
Jim won’t do it. It would involve leaving the Manor and missing a rerun of McHale’s Navy and the Big Bang Theory. It would be interesting if he did just to see the reactions he would get from the boys, the AEW fans, AEW management, and the internet. I’d love to see Cornette “invade” Collision, but it won’t happen. One can dream though.
Two groups of managers go on the Family Feud. On one side is Jim Cornette, Gary Hart, Paul Jones, Baby Doll, and Woman, while the other team is Paul Heyman, Freddie Blassie, Jimmy Hart, Miss Elizabeth, and Rev. Slick. Which team wins the Feud?
Wouldn’t this be fun to see? Steve Harvey bantering with all of the managerial legends and seeing Freddie Blassie calling Harvey a Pencilled Neck Geek. The NWA versus The WWF. I think the NWA team would win the show and play Fast Money. Yes, it’s just fantasy, but this would be awesome.
Is Aaron Solow still with AEW? I can’t remember the last time he wrestled a match on AEW television or at an AEW or ROH show.
According to Wikipedia, Solo is still with AEW. I remember that he was aligned with QT Marshall for a while, but that was a long time ago. According to CageMatch.com, his last match was July 7, 2024, when he lost to Katsuyori Shibata at a ROH taping. So I guess he’s still there, but just not being used. Too bad because Solo is a good talent.
Do you think Debra (McMichael) will ever go into the WWE Hall of Fame?
Debra is the ex-wife of Stone Cold Steve Austin and from all accounts, it was not a friendly divorce. This is where politics get involved because so long as Austin is involved with WWE in any manner, Debra would be off-limits to any HOF induction, legend’s deal, cameo appearance, or anything else. She will never see the WWE Hall of Fame.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap her up for the night. Be well, my friends. Watch out for Puppies and I’ll see you at the matches.
