I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s rock!
Who is the first person that comes to mind when you think United States Champion?
I’m showing my age here, but when I see the United States Championship, my thoughts immediately go to Magnum TA fighting Tully Blanchard, as well as Paul Jones & Blackjack Mulligan swapping the title back and forth in the Crockett Days.
So, Xavier and Kofi have turned heel on Big E, but are still together as the New Day. Thoughts?
This is a great potential story that has immediately caught my attention. Kofi and Woods tease breaking up but are united in turning on Big E. I have a theory here. Big E has been medically cleared or else he wouldn’t be participating in this storyline. Look for Big E to recruit some partners, while Woods & Kofi do their thing as the bad guys. And at WrestleMania, Big E returns to the ring to fight his former New Day partners. This is a story that has been a long time coming and I’m very interested in seeing where it goes.
Does Seth Rollins vs CM Punk feel like a big deal to you?
It’s starting slow because we knew it was inevitable. But I have faith in both Seth and Punk that the action should start picking up soon, and it won’t take long before this rivalry has everyone’s attention and focus.
What are your thoughts on Perry Saturn?
Legit is as tough as they come. And also a strange dude. Saturn had a good career in ECW, WCW, and WWE, but had some rough years dealing with his demons and was even homeless for a while. But it looks as if he’s gotten his life back on track. I was never a fan of Saturn, the wrestler, but Perry Saturn, the man, seems like a guy who’s taken on the worst in life but fought back. He’s a man to be respected.
His contract expires in February. What do you think Josh Alexander’s next move should be? Should he stay loyal to TNA or venture out to a new promotion?
If I recall correctly, didn’t Alexander have some problems in communication with Tony Khan when he was a part of ROH? The lack of structure was one of the reasons he chose TNA over AEW to begin with, so I doubt AEW is an option. Alexander is a little old to be going to NXT. In my opinion, his best option would be to remain with TNA. I have no idea what he actually will be doing, but TNA would be my suggestion.
Disco Inferno versus Daniel Garcia. Who wins?
Garcia is a talented kid and a future star, but he’s not ready for Prime Time yet in my opinion. Disco was a solid wrestler who held both the TV title and the tag team championships in WCW. Disco might have played a goof as his character, but rarely had a bad match. Disco Inferno would win.
First, it was The Undertaker and Kane, and now Bully Ray was a guest on Gutfield last night. Thoughts?
It’s good to see these wrestlers breaking out of their comfort zone. The use of wrestlers on Gutfield’s show is strictly due to the influence of Tyrus, who’s calling up his old buddies to make the show more unpredictable and interesting. I like it though. It makes good TV.
Omos versus Andre the Giant. Who wins?
Omos might even be bigger than Andre. Omos is 7’3, while Andre is 7’4. So there isn’t much difference there. Andre’s normal advantage would be gone. The old, injured, and out-of-shape Andre from his last WWE run wouldn’t stand a chance. Andre in his prime though, that would be another story. It’d be a good spectacle of a match. I think Andre would win.
What do you think AEW should do if Juice Robinson is forced to step out of the Continental Classic? Robinson possibly broke his foot during a match on Collision.
AEW pulled Robinson from the tournament and replaced him with Komander. And the AEW wrestlers are so interchangeable, that no one has noticed or cares.
War Games Match: Bruno Sammartino, Pedro Morales, Bob Backlund, Hulk Hogan, Cody Rhodes versus Ivan Koloff, Stan Stasiak, Superstar Billy Graham, Andre the Giant, and Roman Reigns. Who wins?
It looked like a slaughter at first but with Andre and Roman on the heel team, it would be a much closer battle than most would expect. Bruno and friends would win of course, but Ivan & Stasiak are the men who beat Bruno and Pedro. Graham beat Backlund. Andre & Hogan went back and forth, as did Roman and Cody. This would be the ultimate dream match. Bruno, Pedro, Backlund, Hogan, and Cody would win.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any comments are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s put a lid on things for today. Be good, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
