It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s get busy and rock this joint. Let’s go.
How would you rate the NXT Deadl1ne PLE?
It was a fantastic show from start to finish. Every match delivered and it was equally as good as or better than any show on the WWE’s main roster or AEW. I wasn’t expecting much to be honest. I had my mind changed pretty damn quickly.
Ten years ago. UFC signed CM Punk. He went 0-2 in the UFC competition. Was it a good move for Punk?
Yeah, but he went 2-0 backstage at AEW, so that has to count for something, right? Punk wanted to do it and had the chance to live a dream. Maybe it didn’t work out as well as he had hoped, but he made money, UFC made money, and now, he can say that he did it and fought in NFC. Everyone is happy.
Heath Slater recently said that he wants Triple H to consider bringing The Nexus back since fans still talk about it 14 years later. Is Heath right? Should WWE consider bringing back Nexus?
I addressed this question earlier. Heath, along with PJ Black, Darren Young, Curtis Axel, Michael Tarver, and Mason Ryan with the in-ring action with David Otunga as their “Counsel” and Wade Barrett putting them over in commentary, they would be a force to be reckoned with. The fans would pop, and this faction, to finish what they started, would work so well, even rivaling The Bloodline and Judgment Day as the top faction in WWE. I’d love to see it happen.
How would you rate Naomi on a scale of 1-10?
I’d rate her maybe a 5 or 6 at best. She’s okay in the ring, but it’s obvious she’s only getting pushed and keeping a job because of who her family connections are. Her finisher is an ass to the face. She’s not a strong talker. She’s a nice person. That is obvious, but being a professional wrestler, she’s not all that.
Name a young AEW wrestler, male or female, who would benefit from going to WWE.
Let’s ignore the obvious like Ricky Starks, Daniel Garcia, Aaron Solo, or Sammy Guevera. A wrestler on the AEW roster who would benefit the most from a move to WWE? Call Hook. Hook was improving and had great charisma. And now, he’s quit improving and seems to be going through the motions. The kid has so much potential, and it’s being ignored and wasted. Of all of the AEW roster, Hook would benefit the most with a move to NXT or the WWE.
Does Oba Femi belong on the main WWE roster? Who would you want to see him feud against?
Oba Femi impresses me every time he enters the ring. That is how a monster is supposed to be booked. Yes, he belongs on the main roster, maybe as a special attraction. As for a feud, imagine Femi versus Jacob Fatu. Or Bronson Reed? Hell, imagine Femi versus Roman Reigns. The man has a huge future. He is that impressive.
Is Josh Alexander making the right move to leave TNA Wrestling?
I don’t think he is. As proven in the past, AEW will ignore him and he’ll be quickly forgotten by AEW management after a short and inconsequential push. And the WWE roster is so stacked right now too. He’d be lost in the shuffle. Unless Alexander is just going for the money, TNA is probably the best place for him right now.
Would you watch ROH every week if they had a better television spot?
My schedule already has WWE, NXT, TNA, and AEW, both shows and PLE events, as part of it. I’d keep track of ROH and watch the highlights online, as I currently do TNA, NXT, Smackdown, and AEW. There is too much wrestling currently on TV to watch it all. I’m trying though.
Which match was better? The Survivor Series WarGames match with the WWE women or the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge on NXT Deadl1ne?
On this one, the ladies of NXT killed it with the Iron Survivor Challenge match. It was by far the better match of the two.
Same question, but with the Men’s War Games match or the Men’s NXT Iron Survivor Challenge?
This one is much harder. WarGames was more story-based, but everyone busted their asses, some literally, and it delivered 100%. As for the men in the NXT Iron Survivor Match, it was more of great wrestling and high-impact moves than WarGames was. Everyone delivered and this match has made me a strong fan of both Wes Lee and Nathan Frazer. Comparing the two is, for me, like comparing Alice Cooper to Waylon Jennings. Both singers are so different, but I greatly enjoy the music of both men and consider them my favorite entertainers of all time. It all depends on my mood and what I’m feeling at the time. Both matches were incredible in different ways. I liked them both.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, I’m headed out. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
