I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Are you ready to rock? Let’s roll.
What are your thoughts on Jesse Ventura’s performance at SNME?
Jesse had a slow start with the introduction at the podium, but when the time came to call the main event with Michael Cole and Pat McAfee, he was the Jesse Ventura of old, with the scathing comments, defending the heels, and explaining the action in the ring. Jesse wasn’t great, but he did far better than I was expecting him to do.
Chris Jericho showed up at a GCW event to attack Matt Cardona and Effy. So the whole GCW/AEW feud is a work? Thoughts?
I think all of this is an attempt to save face and prevent things from escalating. I think Tony Khan was legit upset at Effy’s comments and Ricky Starks when he pulled Starks from the GCW event. But everything seemed to blow up and AEW looked like the bad guys in this situation. So Jericho intercedes and works out a deal with Matt Cardona who AEW would like to sign anyhow, and now, we have this angle going on. Ricky Starks is still not involved, but AEW can save face with Jericho facing Cardona.
CM Punk, in a shot at Hangman Adam Page, says that whoever uses the term “move set” is an idiot. Thoughts?
It was a subtle shot that probably went over the heads of a lot of fans, but I’m sure Adam Page got the memo. Point and score, CM Punk.
Wahoo McDaniel versus Samoa Joe. Who wins?
With both men in their prime, this would be an amazing battle and forget about the rules and working. It would be so damn stiff and brutal for real. It’s a tough call, but I think Wahoo would win.
Kevin Owens left with the Winged Eagle belt after his match with Cody and the confrontation with Triple H. Should Kevin start calling himself “The Real World Champion”?
I would love to see Owens do just that and parade around with the Winged Eagle title belt and call himself the real World Champion. It would make for great television and storytelling. And since Owens likes t-shirts, a simple black t-shirt that says, “I broke Randy’s neck!”, and one that says, “I broke Cody’s neck!”, in the style of what Greg Valentine wore when he broke Wahoo’s leg, would be great as well. I want to see WWE play up how Kevin almost beat Cody and then “put him out” after the match. This should be good.
Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan rematch. When will this match happen? WWE Raw on Netflix, Royal Rumble, or next month’s Saturday Night’s Main Event?
Given that they did the face-off on Saturday Night’s show, the most logical choice is the next edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. Works for me.
Curtis Axel versus Danhausen. Who wins?
Joe Hennig has already survived the curses of Michael McGillicutty and The B Team so any curses that Danhausen tried to throw at him would be weak in comparison. Curtis Axel would win.
What are your thoughts on Matt Cardona potentially signing with AEW?
I hope Matt doesn’t do it. We all know that Cardona’s eventual goal is to get back in the WWE for one more run and signing any kind of long-term deal with AEW would destroy the chances of that happening anytime soon. I’m sure the money would be great, but Cardona makes great money and controls his career now. I just can’t see him giving that up for AEW. Better to do the one-shot with Jericho and ROH and continue to be the wrestling gypsy until the time comes to join his wife in WWE.
Super Humman is doing Cameo now. Thoughts?
Who would pay to have this idiot do a Cameo? He’s embarrassing and if he had people around him who actually cared about him, they’d put a stop to the stupid stunts before he seriously injures himself. This kid has mental issues and is a danger to himself. He’s a sad person.
Was WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event revival a success?
Not really. It was more of a glorified house show than anything else. No promos, no backstage segments, and commercial breaks that ran as long as the matches. It was hard to get into the show and enjoy it. The matches were all decent, but there was nothing else, but the matches. The best part of the show took place after the ending credits with Cody and Kevin. It was a good effort, but there are a lot of bugs that need to be worked out before the next one.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. And with that, I’m gone for now. I’ll see you at the matches.
