I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s get ready to rumble.
Do you think WWE should allow AJ Styles to do one more match in TNA Wrestling?
I don’t see why they wouldn’t. WWE has let Shinsuke Nakamura work for Pro Wrestling NOAH, and Shayna Baszler work for Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport, so there is a precedent in place. Plus, NXT has been working in a partnership with TNA as of late, and talent has regularly gone back and forth between the two promotions. Considering AJ’s history with TNA, a match or appearance for that promotion shouldn’t be a big deal at all for WWE.
Is Roman Reigns vs CM Punk the right choice for WrestleMania 41?
It’s definitely a WrestleMania quality-level match and worthy of the event. If that’s what we end up with, I won’t complain or object.
What are your thoughts on Rob Conway? Where is he now?
I liked Rob Conway during his time in WWE and thought he was a very underrated talent. He was the Legend Killer before Randy Orton had the role, plus the Con-Man gimmick was decent as well. He wasn’t a top guy for WWE, but he did have several runs as the OVW Champion, plus held the NWA Championship after leaving WWE so maybe they were missing something. Conway still wrestles occasionally but since 2020, is mostly retired and works as a personal trainer.
What are your thoughts on Beyond The Mat?
It was a groundbreaking documentary that exposed professional wrestling in a way that had never been done before. It was creative, entertaining in a disturbing sort of manner, and informative. It was a sign of the future and what would become common in the future. Truly, a very important part of wrestling history.
What do you think about Matt Cardona’s next steps in wrestling? Should he commit to a promotion or keep playing the field?
Matt Cardona will continue to be the Indy God and Death Match King, showing up anywhere and everywhere that suits the needs and desires of Matt Cardona, as he should. In other words, business as usual. So far as committing to a single promotion, unless it’s WWE, I would suggest no.
What are your thoughts on Goldberg’s decision to end his heel turn after just one night? Do you think he could have been a successful heel?
I just can’t see Goldberg as a heel. His entire reputation was built upon being the larger-than-life hero and like Sting, it’s hard to imagine him in any other role. He didn’t have the personality to pull off the changes he’d need to make to make a heel character work. In deciding to stay a babyface, he was probably right.
Do you think that Seth Rollins and CM Punk really hate each other in real life?
While I can’t picture them playing cards together on a Wednesday night or getting the wives and going on a double date together, I don’t think there is any true hatred between them. I think they’re cordial to each other and professional, work acquaintances if you will.
Danhusen is back in ROH/AEW. Thoughts?
I think this is cool. If I say anything differently, I’d probably get cursed and nobody wants that to happen. It was a pleasant surprise. It was very good/very evil.
And there you go. Let’s wrap this up. Thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, I’m down and gone. I’ll be back in a little bit. Stay well and I’ll see you at the matches.
