I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Baby, it’s cold outside. Let’s warm up with some questions about the World’s greatest sport.
How would you rate the first RAW on Netflix on a scale of 1-10?
The production quality didn’t seem quite as sharp on my computer, but it was a solid show. It wasn’t the great spectacle I was expecting or hoping for, but WWE gets an A for effort. On a scale of 1-10, I’d give it a 7.5.
Thoughts on the RAW appearances of The Undertaker, The Rock, John Cena, and Hulk Hogan?
The Rock and John Cena both talked a lot, but it just seemed like something was off to me. The Rock was kind of a been there/done that type of mode, while Cena was okay, but I just wasn’t feeling it. The Undertaker circled the ring with his motorcycle and gave his seal of approval to Rhea Ripley. And Hogan? That was hard to watch. I’m not a Hogan fan by any means, but damn. No one deserves that kind of reaction. It was rough.
What Luchador do you think Chad Gable will be fighting next week on RAW?
It’s the WWE debut of Penta, as we all know. It should be a good match though.
Thoughts and memories of Misty Blue Simms?
I mainly remember Misty from a few appearances in Georgia. A skinny girl who wore too much makeup and fought Linda Dallas all the time. She was popular in the early 80s but wasn’t really special in the ring. Just a good-looking girl who the magazines seemed to love. I didn’t find out until much later that she and her husband made adult videos, but that’s their business. I dimly remember her, but I was never a fan.
Roman Reigns will be on RAW on January 27th. What do you think he’ll want to talk about?
He’s the Tribal Chief again so I’m guessing that he’ll have the family reunite and the rebellious Solo and Bloodline 2.0 acknowledge him. It’s essentially setting up the next story arc for the Bloodline Stories.
Better match? Seth versus CM Punk at RAW or CM Punk versus Drew at Badd Blood?
Both matches went really well and will be talked about for years, but the better match? I’d have to say Hell in a Cell at Badd Blood. Punk and Drew were at the very top of their game for that match and it was nearly flawless.
Allegedly, the return of Becky Lynch to WWE RAW was cut from the show in favor of the appearance by The Undertaker. Thoughts?
Becky was not at RAW and this story has been debunked as a falsehood. If it had happened, it would have been a tough break for Becky, but it’s live TV and shit happens. It’s the nature of the business. She’s a professional and would have taken it in stride. And I really don’t think having Undertaker appear was the problem. 25-minute promos by The Rock at the start of the show seem more likely a culprit in balancing out time for the rest of the show than anything else.
Why did the fans boo Hulk Hogan so badly at the RAW on Netflix appearance?
I’ve heard many reasons, such as the racist past, the strong support for Trump, the hypocrisy that has run wild over Hogan’s career, the fakeness that comes from his mouth with every word he speaks, etc. And the real reason? They’re just not real Hulkamaniacs, brother! But seriously, the real, real reason. All of the above.
After her appearance on RAW, Nikki Bella teased a return to WWE. Thoughts?
The Bellas left WWE in search of greener pastures. Since leaving, they’ve learned that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence. Both Nikki and Brie are good characters. I think as a tag team, there would be a place for them in WWE. It’d be nice to see them come home.
Do you think Jacob Fatu is ready for a high-profile match against Roman Reigns?
Yes, Fatu is ready. And a match against Roman Reigns seems the logical next step. Solo may have pledged to acknowledge his Tribal Chief, but I don’t ever recall The Samoan Werewolf making any agreements. Roman versus Fatu at either The Royal Rumble or The Elimination Chamber seems like a possibility.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap this up. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
