I’m Doug, and this is the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters, the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Before I get started, a big shout out and Happy Birthday to the best guy I know, the Gene to my Ole, the Stan to my Bobby, my best friend and bro-son, Kenneth McDonald. I love you, bro! Now, let’s talk about wrestling.
Jey Uso is more over than Jeff Hardy ever was. Yes or no?
I’ll have to disagree with this one. Jey is on fire and very hot right now, but in the day, Jeff Hardy was too, and he made it last a while. If Jey can maintain this momentum for another year, so be it. Right now though, I’d say they’re about neck in neck in terms of their peak popularity.
A WWE press release is claiming 4.9 million global views for WWE Raw and 2.6 million households in the US. Thoughts?
It just verifies what we already know. WWE is on fire right now and is a huge hit. They promoted the RAW debut on Netflix and the fans came to see what the hype was about. The proof is in the numbers. The trick will be to maintain those numbers. I think WWE and Netflix can do it.
What is your advice for Hulk Hogan?
Go back home, run your shop, drink some beer, and lay low for a while, brother. Out of sight and out of mind until the WWE fans find something or someone else to gripe about.
Hulk Hogan versus Mark Henry. Who wins?
In a typical match, it would be Hogan getting the win. BUT, I can see Hogan trying to appease his critics and doing the job to show how non-racist he really is. Yeah, Hogan takes a pin and eats the World’s Strongest Slam as Henry takes him to the House of Pain.
Do you want to see Malakai Black/Aleister Black back in WWE?
If that’s what the future holds, so be it. Triple H did a great job with Black in NXT. He’s a great character and a strong performer. The WWE roster is so strong right now, that I’m not quite sure where he’d fit in, but Black is a rare talent when used right. I’d like to see WWE give him another opportunity, without Vince there to screw it up.
What do you think about Maria Kanellis’ future in AEW? Would you like to see her stay or take her talents elsewhere?
I like Maria, but it just seems that regardless of where she works, she spends more time on the shelf due to illness, injuries, or being pregnant, than actually working and contributing to the company in some way. I’d like to see her stay in AEW/ROH to keep that regular paycheck coming in for her and her family, but at this point, she’s just lucky to have a job anywhere.
What do you think about Ross and Marshall Von Erich joining AEW?
They’re two talented young men and they’re keeping the family legacy alive. While I’m a bit hesitant to think AEW is the best place for their talents, it will give them a regular income, and a chance to get better and get more name recognition. I’m happy for them. Congratulations.
Do you think a match between Chelsea Green and Vanessa Hudgens would be a hit with WWE fans?
I keep seeing her face and name, but who the hell is Vanessa Hudgens, and why should I care about her? Okay, she’s an actress and a singer from the movie, High School Musical. She’s the 2025 version of Snooki. She’s allegedly a huge star and a match with Chelsea would only help build Green’s status in WWE and among the casual fans. I think Chelsea can get anyone or anything over if given the chance. The WWE fans would love it.
Matt Riddle says that he’s still waiting on his paycheck from TNA Turning Point. Thoughts?
And TNA has responded, saying that Riddle has been paid. This is the kind of thing that should be handled in a conversation or a phone call, and not on social media. Riddle is burning bridges and making himself look unprofessional by taking this public. And now, TNA is calling him out. This doesn’t make anyone look good. This is not good at all.
If The Rock could only have one more match, which match would you want more? Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns?
Between the two men listed, I’d say Rock versus Roman. They’re family and that just adds some intrigue that The Rock versus Cody seems to be lacking. Both matches would probably be good, but The Tribal Chief versus The Final Boss just seems a better story to me.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Stay warm, my friends. Watch out for Samoan Werewolves. I’ll see you at the matches.
