I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Are you ready to shake that thang? Let’s do this.
If WWE did a “Total Divas” revival, what WWE talents would you want to see?
I never watched the original Total Divas so I’m not quite sure how it goes, but six WWE Divas taped 24/7 with their families, spouses, and other dramatic effects if I recall correctly. So who should participate? Chelsea Green would be a must. Bianca Belair too. And the others? Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, Sonya Deville, and Liv Morgan.
If Hogan turned heel and was used by WWE to create a new nWo, who would you have in the faction?
Who could compare with the original nWo of Hogan, Hall, Nash, and X-Pac? How about Drew McIntyre, Grayson Waller, Kevin Owens, and Pete Dunne?
Randy Savage & Sherri Martel versus Becky Lynch & Seth Rollins. Who wins?
What a match this would be. The Macho Man and Macho Queen versus the Visionary and The Man. Talk about dream matches and this one is it for sure. Just for the sake of respect and nostalgia, Randy & Sherri would probably get the win, but honestly, it could go either way and no one would care. It’d be that good of a match.
WWE is reportedly considering bringing Ric Flair back to appear at the Royal Rumble. Thoughts?
Bring Ric back for a night so he can make it all about Ric Flair and do something to embarrass the company either during or not long after the event. Like Hogan, Flair needs to stay away from wrestling and just enjoy being alive. Ric has burned so many bridges and tarnished his legacy so much, that I can’t see any positives of bringing Ric in anymore. I hate to say that because I was once a big fan of Flair and will always be 4 Horsemen 4 Life. That being said, I hate what he’s become and how determined he seems to be to destroy any good memories we, the fans, have of the Nature Boy, in his glory days. Just leave Ric at home, please!
If Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson fought in their prime, who would win?
If Tyson could get the shot in during the early rounds, he could get the win, but the longer the fight went, it would go in Ali’s favor. It would take a lot of effort, but I think Ali would wear Tyson down and get a win by decision at the end.
Do you find it strange that Daniel Garcia has been placed into different title opportunity settings (the Casino Royale and C2) since winning his TNT title and not advancing any stories (as far as I know) for his title?
AEW gave Garcia the push and put a title on him, but they don’t know how to book him as a defending champion or use him properly to improve his status and make the title important. Garcia needs a strong story and some quality opponents, but that simple concept seems too much for the AEW creative to comprehend. It’s sad, but true. It’s not strange at all, but just business as usual in AEW.
What 3 feuds/promos/matches from wrestling history would have given you the ick had you watched them with your current tastes/sensibilities?
I’ve changed a lot as I’ve gotten older, but looking back, I liked the Jimmy Valiant feud with Paul Jones. Now, I watch and wonder why. The very cringe-worthy and racist character of Akeem, the African Dream, makes me shudder now. And the WrestleMania match between Edge and Booker T, over a shampoo commercial? Really? I liked both Edge and Booker at the time, so I didn’t care, but looking back? A shampoo commercial in Japan? That’s the best WWE could come up with to have those two wrestle? Oy vey!
You are in full creative control of Cena’s farewell tour and are told you can bring 1 wrestler from AEW, TNA, and NJPW for open challenges. What 3 wrestlers are you choosing?
Who would be cool from each of those other promotions to fight Cena in some one-shot events as part of the retirement tour? From AEW, how about MJF? From TNA, I believe in Joe Hendry as a good option. And New Japan Pro Wrestling? Cena versus Gabe Kidd would be an interesting and fun match to see.
Who’s more insecure? Early 90s Hogan, mid-00s Triple H, or 24/25 Rock?
Let me tell you something, brother. Hogan was hanging and banging and politicking as had never been seen before or since. Anyone else? That doesn’t work for me, brother! Hogan for sure.
Why do people insist there are too many titles, instead of giving each title its own concrete identity and style of wrestling/storyline?
People say that there are too many titles because quite simply, there are too many titles. Giving each belt its own identity, style, and storyline takes time and each promotion only has just so much time available. Having so many titles means that someone will be neglected or ignored in the process. And also, if everyone has a title, what’s the point of being a champion? It becomes just a participation trophy. In the world of wrestling championships, less is more, and the creative efforts work better divided among fewer championships than spread thin trying to promote and build too many.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And I guess that’s all for now. Take care and stay warm, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
