Doug Maynard
Welcome to the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Are you ready to rumble? Let’s go.
Who’s your updated top suspect for the Jade Cargill attacker?
Who gained the most by having Jade out of the picture? Naomi was given a championship as a result, plus ended up with a title match against Tiffany Stratton, neither of which would have happened if Jade had been around. Also, I don’t think Naomi has been a heel since her day as a Funkadactyl. So I’m going with Naomi as the attacker for now.
Do you think AEW puts that World Title on Jeff Jarrett this year?
Jarrett would be a far better option than most of the other top contenders currently in AEW, including the current champion. If Jeff does win the belt, he’ll be a transitional champion for only a few weeks, but I can easily see AEW giving him a brief run.
Would you like to see John Cena stop off in TNA during his WWE retirement tour? Do you even think it’s possible?
It’s professional wrestling so anything is possible. And Cena with a match against Nic Nemeth, or maybe Joe Hendry. Yeah, that would be pretty cool.
WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff believes that Peacock could be in the market for another wrestling promotion, should they lose WWE entirely. Thoughts?
I can see that and Bischoff is probably correct. TNA is on the rise and their current partnership with WWE would have to make some people at Peacock sit up and take notice. The NWA needs a home too, and would make a good addition to the NBCU family. We’ll have to watch and see what happens in the future once the Network leaves Peacock, but Eric is probably right.
Is Jacob Fatu ready to be a main event singles star and start chasing championship titles?
We’ll find out next weekend as he and Jey Uso have a singles match on Saturday Night’s Main Event. But yes, I think Fatu is more than ready for singles gold.
How long do you think Matt Hardy will keep wrestling? Should he call it quits, or does he have more left in the tank?
Matt says that he plans to wrestle until the wheels fall off. I can easily see a few more years if Matt slows down the schedule and physical abuse of his body. A schedule like Roman Reigns or Logan Paul’s could extend Matt’s career for quite a while. I’ll say maybe three more years as a full-time active wrestler, and after that, maybe a producer, trainer, or promoter. A Matt Hardy wrestling school here in NC would be a wonderful thing.
Would you want to see one last match between The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz? If so, which promotion should host it?
I would love to see it happen. One last match for the sake of nostalgia. Considering that Matt & Jeff are the current TNA Tag Team Champions, I think TNA would be the most logical promotion to host the match.
Do you think that, with the help of WWE, TNA can become the #2 promotion in the United States?
With the help of WWE, plus a new home either at a different cable outlet or streaming service, TNA could easily overtake AEW for the #2 spot. The television and PPV events are already better, plus live attendance is on the rise. TNA is halfway there already.
What are your thoughts on The Acclaimed breaking up?
All good things must come to an end and I guess it’s time for Caster and Bowen to split now and move forward in their careers. I’m not crazy about the split, but they’ve grown stale as of late and were in a holding pattern as a team. Caster is an amazing heel and this will be his chance to shine. I don’t think Bowen is quite as charismatic, but he and Billy Gunn can keep the tag team thing going as he feuds with Caster and moves on to the next stage of his career.
Arn Anderson versus Ted DiBiase. Who wins?
This would be a very competitive match and a great clash of two wrestling legends. They’re similar in style and size and it would be a wrestling clinic for the fans. Arn would take Ted to the limit, but when the final bell rings, DiBiase would be the one to get his arm raised.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
