Tossing Salt Presents:
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event
Thoughts & Predictions

Tomorrow night on Peacock and NBC, it’s the return of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The WWE is back in prime time, baby. There are four matches scheduled, plus a contract signing between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes. Rhodes and Owens will be competing in a Ladder Match for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble PLE next week. This signing will be hosted by HBK Shawn Michaels. And that’s all well and good. But we’re here now for the matches. It’s prediction time. Let’s do this.
Jacob Fatu versus Braun Strowman.
The Samoan Werewolf versus The Monster Among Men. This should be a fun match. It won’t be a wrestling match, but instead, a brawl, with plenty of shenanigans and plunder. I’d look for The Bloodline 2.0 to be involved at some point, but to be honest, I don’t think Fatu needs them. I’m picking Fatu for the win.
Winner: Jacob Fatu.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Bron Breakker (c) versus Sheamus.
These men have wrestled twice before and each time, Breakker has managed to hold on to his championship. But will his luck continue to hold out? Sheamus is a tough dude and this match will be an excellent brawl for sure. For some reason, my gut is saying title change. It won’t hurt Bron in the slightest, and it will surprise everyone because no one expects it. It will also make Sheamus a Grand Slam Champion. Yeah, let’s go with the gut.
Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion: Sheamus.
WWE Women’s World Championship Match
Rhea Ripley(c) versus Nia Jax.
I’m not even sure why I’m predicting this one. Nia has improved a great deal from her prior WWE runs and has even become an entertaining character. But she’s fighting Rhea “bloody” Ripley. And right now, there is no one in the WWE hotter than Mami. Rhea wins and retains the gold.
Winner and STILL WWE Women’s World Champion: Rhea Ripley.
WWE World Championship Match
Gunther (c) versus Main Event Jey Uso.
Jey Uso is good. His merchandise sales are off the chart and the fans love him. But is he ready to be the World Champion? Gunther’s reign thus far has been a little boring and needs something to pick it up, but I just don’t see him losing the belt anytime soon. Jey has ruffled enough feathers with other wrestlers, I’m expecting someone to get involved and cause a distraction. Gunther takes advantage and retains the title.
Winner and STILL WWE World Champion: Gunther
And there you go. As I said earlier, there will also be a contract signing for the ladder match at the Royal Rumble between WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Winged Beltholder Kevin Owens. HBK will host that spectacle. Jesse Ventura will be returning on commentary, while Hulk Hogan, who was scheduled to appear, has backed out due to a family situation. Wow! What a coincidence that seems to be.
But the show is loaded. It’s on NBC and Peacock at 8:00 pm Eastern. And I guess my work is done here. Thanks for reading.
