I’m Doug. This is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s roll.
Do you think Sheamus will ever win the Intercontinental title?
Before Sheamus calls it a career, he will eventually wear that title belt and become a Grand Slam champion. It’s just a matter of when, but Sheamus still has a while left in his career. He’ll eventually do it.
Chris Benoit. To be honest.. do you still watch his matches?
There are a few matches where Benoit is involved that I’ll still watch, but mainly, those are all tag team or multi-man matches involving the Horsemen. So far as singles matches go, I can’t watch Benoit matches, especially when Woman was at ringside with him as his manager. It’s just too weird.
Ed Wiskowski, aka Col. DeBeers, passed away. What are your thoughts and memories of the one-time Polish Prince?
I remember DeBeers from his days in the AWA. What a character he was. So racist and politically incorrect, but he was a must-see and when he came on the television, you couldn’t look away. The character wouldn’t work today, and to be honest, it shouldn’t have worked then. But DeBeers made it work and had an amazing career. A true wrestling icon in every sense of the word. The character was cringe to be sure, but I will always be proud to be an Ed Wiskowski fan.
What are your thoughts on GCW Champion Effy?
This clown is not a wrestler. He is every bad gay stereotype in existence, all crammed into one persona. I watched a spot where he and another guy kept spitting into each other’s mouths and was disgusted. This guy is a walking stereotype and an insult to every gay person, as well as every wrestling fan, in existence. Bad taste and professional wrestling are often joined hand in hand quite frequently. Look at Col. DeBeers in the last question for a perfect example. But DeBeers was a heel and got intense hatred for his gimmick. But people cheer Effy? Why? He’s the worst of the worst and an absolute sick joke.
Who is next for Gunther?
Maybe Logan Paul? Maybe Seth Rollins? Based on RAW on Monday night, that seems to be the direction that WWE is headed. And to be honest, either one would make a good opponent for the Ring General.
Should WWE bring Asuka back in as a heel or a babyface?
It doesn’t matter what WWE lists her as when she returns. Be it face or heel, Asuka is going to be cheered and receive a huge pop when she returns. Asuka has been around long enough that the fans love her and respect her and when she returns, they’ll be happy to see her return. And regardless of whatever she does or who she goes after, she’s going to be cheered.
Should Jordynne Grace go to NXT first or go straight to the main roster?
Grace is an established name and just came off a very solid run as the TNA Women’s Champion. She doesn’t need to be on the developmental brand. I’d have her go straight to the main roster.
Do you think WWE should bring TJP back?
I had to think hard to remember who TJP, aka TJ Perkins, even was. He was big on the WWE Cruiserweight scene and had a good run in TNA, but is he a big star? No, not really. If he were to come to WWE, he’d be lost in the shuffle and just another name in the mix. He could be a factor at NXT to a point but for the most part, he wouldn’t be a big deal.
Are you down for Trish Stratus to return in the Royal Rumble match?
Trish Stratus is always welcome in the WWE, be it the Royal Rumble, or any other event. Seeing Trish show up would be pretty cool.
Do you think WWE should take NXT on the road full-time, or is the Performance Center the best place for it?
Keep the PC as the home base and maybe work a few house show events or shows on the road every few months to break up the monotony. A little of both, to keep things fresh, but still on track, works best in my opinion.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
