I’m Doug. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Are you ready for the Rumble? Well, that’s on Saturday. All we’re doing here is answering a few questions. Let’s roll.
Alexa Bliss to TNA, and Britt Baker to WWE, likely?
No to both. Alexa might be acting difficult right now with demands for a new contract, but the good money is WWE, Also, with TNA and WWE currently working together, TNA isn’t going to hire Bliss if she leaves WWE under bad terms. As for Britt Baker, I just don’t see her as part of WWE. If rumors of her causing issues backstage are true, she’s not good enough, in my opinion, to deal with the extra baggage.
Do you think AEW suffers from branding itself as the alternative? Does positioning themselves as the alternative to WWE hinder their ability to adopt successful wrestling practices due to concerns about appearing too similar to WWE?
AEW made promises in the beginning and has gone totally in the opposite direction since. The problem isn’t comparisons to WWE, but just bad management, bad creativity, and bad booking. No one remembers or cares what they promised in the beginning. It’s what we’re seeing now that matters. And it’s bad. Really bad.
Mercedes Mone versus Tessa Blanchard versus Sherri Martel. Who wins?
A triple threat between three of the biggest women in professional wrestling today. Sherri is the most exciting and best character, while Mercedes has the best paycheck every week. And Tessa, despite her baggage, is the best pure wrestler of the three. I think Tessa would win.
What is the worst possible three-person commentary team you can think of? Anyone from any company from any era.
Let’s put Mike Adamle, Excalibur, and David Crockett together at the announce table and see what happens. It would be bad. Really, really, really bad!
“The Rock” Ole Anderson versus “The Rock” Don Muraco with special referee Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Who wins?
Muraco and Ole teamed together for a few matches in the Mid-Atlantic region in the early ’80s. It’s just a little trivia for you. So far as a match goes, The Rock, a WWE legend, would be the most exciting part of the match. And as much as I hate to admit it, Muraco would probably win the match.
How far do you think WWE will realistically go with Jacob Fatu?
I don’t see him ever being the WWE or World Champion, but as the resident monster-on-call, and a destructive force, I see a long and productive career for the Samoan Werewolf. I can see maybe a run with the United States or Intercontinental Championship at some point, but mostly, he’s there to wreak chaos and cause destruction for the main eventers.
Mustafa Ali is back with TNA. Thoughts?
Honestly, I hadn’t even realized that he left. I thought he was just on a vacation or maybe TNA was pulling an AEW on Ali, paying him to sit at home. But he’s back and will add to an already exciting roster and product. Welcome home, Mustafa.
Santino Marella versus R-Truth. Who wins?
What a match this would be. Comedy and shenanigans mixed with just enough wrestling to keep the diehard fans happy. If WWE and TNA do a crossover event, this needs to be one of the matches. As for a winner, Santino misses the Cobra strike and Truth with a roll-up to get the victory.
Brock Anderson says that he turned down an AEW contract renewal. Thoughts?
Brock realizes that a person can’t get better unless they wrestle regularly against a variety of opponents, with different levels of experience. AEW wasn’t offering that so he moved on. It’s just good sense and a desire to be better by Brock. Makes sense to me.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
