I’m Doug, and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. We’re still playing catch-up. Let’s roll.
With AEW constantly getting around 600,000 viewers do they have to accept that the days of a million plus have gone or realistically can they get back there?
Unless they do a total reboot, with new people in charge, running creative, and doing the booking, I seriously doubt that AEW will ever break a million on a single television show again. They just have to grin and bear it.
Do you think the mighty WWE could get The Death Riders over with the fans/critics? If so, what would they do differently?
If the Death Riders were in WWE, the story would have structure. We’d know what was happening and why and logic would be involved. It would make sense and bear no resemblance at all to whatever AEW has been showing us over the past few months. Honestly, I doubt the Death Riders would ever exist in WWE.
Which is worse: the Death Riders storyline or the Devil story?
They both sucked. Let’s call it a tie.
What 3 stipulation matches would you discard and never be seen again if you had the power?
Three matches that would vanish forever? The Blood & Guts match in AEW. It’s called War Games. No imposters allowed. The Stadium Stampede match would be next. And the jello/mud wrestling matches. The men and women are professionals. No climbing around in pools of mush allowed.
On the subject of 80s songs, what is your opinion on someone using Maneater by Hall & Oats as a theme song?
For the right person, that song would work quite well. Maybe Rico? Hell, maybe Missy Hyatt or Sunny? It’s all about matching the wrestler to the right song, and there are plenty of songs from the 80s, Maneater included, that would make great wrestling themes.
Do you still still see AEW going with Darby as the man to beat Mox? What would you book after we get past (thankfully) Revolution and Cope vs Mox?
After Edge and Moxley do their thing, I’d like to see Christian and his family have a go with Mox and his crowd. Yes, they are all heels, but it would make for some great TV. As for Darby eventually being the man to beat Mox, I haven’t heard anything different. I’d rather see Lashley take out Mox or maybe Shelton Benjamin do the honors, but right now, I’m assuming it’s still destined to be Darby.
With Cena v Punk at Mania looking unlikely, do they book it for Money in the Bank which still has no confirmed venue….Chicago anyone?
Cena versus Punk in Chicago sounds good to me. Doing it as part of Money in the Bank is even better. Book it, Triple H.
Who is most likely to end up under a WWE contract first and why? Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Adam Copeland, or MJF?
Who’s contract expires first? We won’t see Edge back in WWE, so forget about him. If Jericho does go back to WWE, it will only be for a Legend’s Deal and a Hall of Fame induction. That leaves Moxley and MJF. I can’t see Moxley being happy in WWE, although it would be cool to see a SHIELD reunion. That leaves MJF, by process of elimination. Yeah, let’s say MJF.
What does WWE do with LA Knight? He has no clear direction and can’t see a Mania match. He’s ridiculously over in an organic way, and beyond a 3-month title reign, he hasn’t had much to reflect his standing. What do you see his 2025 looking like?
Probably more of the same. I can see Knight doing a quick feud with Drew McIntyre, setting up for WrestleMania. Aside from that, I expect that Knight will just drift, as a borderline top guy, with no real meaning or direction. We might see Knight go after the IC or U.S. Championship a few times, but I don’t foresee much more than that.
LA Knight versus Randy Savage. Who wins?
LA Knight is a good wrestler, but he’s not the Macho Man. Savage wins. YEAH!
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Thoughts, comments, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
