I’m Doug, and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Are you ready to rumble? Let’s do this.
Should GCW cover expenses for wrestlers injured while performing during their shows?
I think this one is a no-brainer. If a wrestler is injured while performing for a promoter, the promoter should cover the medical bills. It’s just common sense and good business.
Drew says Jimmy might’ve been where Jey is right now had he just said ‘YEET’ first. Thoughts?
The funny thing is, there’s a picture of Jimmy floating around that has him wearing a shirt that says, ‘Yeet’ from 2021. So, he did say it first. Jey is still the brother getting the big push though. Drew is just busting his chops here.
Would you have liked to see Vinci’s rich playboy character come to life on WWE television? Do you think the company dropped the ball on him?
It would have been interesting to see Giovanni Vinci get more development and a better chance to shine in WWE, but sometimes, things don’t always work out. Yes, I think WWE dropped the ball here.
Do you think John Cena should have had to qualify for the Elimination Chamber match like everyone else?
I understand why WWE gave him a pass. After all, he’s John Cena. But yes, he should have been required to qualify, just as all the Elimination Chamber match participants are being forced to do.
What do you think about WWE releasing Karl Anderson while he’s still injured?
It sucks, but it’s life and it happens. Anderson’s medical bills will still be covered by WWE, plus he’s continuing to get paid for the next 90 days while he continues to recover from his injuries. It’s simply business, as it should be.
Do you agree with Tony Khan? Is Samoa Joe one of the biggest box office draws in wrestling today?
Today? I’m not sure about that part of it, but Joe is a talented wrestler who can draw an audience and has a proven track record in the past in ROH and TNA.
The WWE Hall of Fame. Where do you think WWE should hold the ceremony? Should they go all-out with a historic venue or keep it simple?
KISS. Keep it simple, stupid. Less is more and while the Hall of Fame inductions should be a major event for WWE, there is no need for special effects and over-production. Let the wrestlers and fans have their moment in a smaller, more intimate environment, and then move on.
Eric Bischoff recently declared AEW “the place where careers go to die”. What do you think? Is AEW failing its talent, or is Eric Bischoff just stirring the pot?
Eric is correct 100% with that comment. Look at Christian, Edge, Moxley, Samoa Joe, Jeff Jarrett, Chris Daniels, Mercedes Mone, Miro, Keith Lee, Jack Swagger, etc. For every success story, there are a dozen disasters. Eric is stirring the pot for sure, but his statement has much merit and truth about it.
What are your thoughts on WWE’s latest releases? Which departure surprised you the most?
It always sucks to see people lose their jobs, but the WWE roster is so large and bloated with talent, these cuts can’t surprise anyone who has paid the slightest bit of attention. The biggest surprise? Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. I was assuming that with the return of AJ Styles to the active roster, we’d see the Good Brothers kept around as his backup. I guess not though.
Are you excited about Nikki Bella’s return? Who would you like to see her face next in WWE?
I’m always excited to see talented wrestling characters come back to WWE, and Nikki does qualify. I prefer her as a team with her sister rather than as a singles wrestler, but we’ll see how it goes. Who should she face next? Nikki versus Chelsea Green has a good ring to it and could be fun.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And I guess that’s all for now. Look for more later today as the catch-up continues. I’ll see you at the matches.
