It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s roll.
WWE just released several talents, including Sonya Deville, Cedric Alexander, The Authors of Pain, Paul Ellering, Blair Davenport, Isla Dawn, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson. Thoughts?
It happens. WWE has a stacked roster right now and unfortunately, that means that people will be lost in the shuffle, and sometimes, cuts need to be made. It sucks, but it’s something that happens, and none of the names released were doing anything earth-shaking or major in the promotion right now. Sad, but true.
Can you see Cora Jade winning the TNA title?
Jade is an impressive wrestler with flashes of being a major name at some point, but I don’t see her as a top talent yet. She will most likely hold the Knockout’s Championship at some point in her career, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon.
Do you like The New Day’s new entrance theme and their shift to a heel persona?
The New Day had grown stale and needed a major change. This heel turn has added life and resurrected a gimmick that was essentially DOA. I’m loving this new Kofi and Woods. And that new entrance theme? I like that too.
Is Jey Uso more over than Daniel Bryan’s YES movement?
Yeet or Yes? It’s a tough call and both men have far exceeded anything I ever expected for either of them. I think the YES chants were more over and had a bigger impact, but we’re still early in the YEET movement, so that can change at any point. But for now, I think Daniel Bryan’s support was stronger and had a larger impact.
AEW has fired Bear Boulder, of the Iron Savages, over alleged domestic violence charges. Thoughts?
Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Has Boulder even been to court yet? Actually, I get it. AEW is all about perception and public opinion. Boulder allegedly beat and strangled his wife. That’s inexcusable and well, actions have consequences. Even Boulder’s partner in the Iron Savages has condemned his actions and distanced himself from his now-former partner. It sucks, but if these charges are true, I can’t blame AEW.
Would you like to see Natalya challenge Masha Slamovich for the TNA Knockouts Championship? Should it happen in WWE or TNA?
That would be a good match. I’d enjoy it. If it was to happen, I’d do it in TNA.
Fandango showed up at NXT. Thoughts?
Talk about major surprises and this was truly one. Johnny Curtis, aka Dirty Dango, is challenging for the Heritage Cup in NXT. It should be a good match with Lexis King, as Curtis can go with the best of them. The return of Fandango was something I didn’t know I needed until it happened. It was a pleasant surprise and I’m looking forward to seeing Curtis and King wrestle on Tuesday night on NXT.
Remember Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Wrestling show? If you could gather up 8 celebrities for a wrestling show, who would you pick?
Off the top of my head, I’d say Taylor Lautner, Brad Williams, Rob Gronkowski, Zac Efron, Macaulay Caulkin, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Charlize Theron, and Rosario Dawson.
It’s been over six years since the original WWE Evolution pay-per-view, and Bayley feels now is the perfect time for a sequel. Thoughts?
It’s past time. Right now, WWE has a very strong Women’s division, plus the women of NXT, as well as the Knockouts of TNA all available and at their disposal. Putting together an all-female event of 7-8 matches, all of high quality and excitement, wouldn’t be hard at all. I’d love to see WWE give Evolution II a shot. It needs to happen.
Jimmy & Jey Uso versus Rick Steamboat & Jay Youngblood. Who wins?
Jimmy and Jey are arguably one of the best teams in WWE history. Steamboat and Youngblood were easily one of the best teams of the 80s and the NWA. What a match this would be. The styles would clash a bit at first, but the magic these two teams could provide would be incredible to behold. It’s a tough call to be sure, but since I’m an old NWA guy, my money would be on Ricky and Jay for the win.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And I guess that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see you at the matches.
