Thoughts & Predictions

Coming up on Saturday but airing on Sunday from the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Queensland Australia, it’s All Elite Wrestling Grand Slam: Australia. It’s AEW’s first big event from the Land Down Under, it’s a PPV, I mean Arena Show, I mean episode of Collision, for the ages. Hell, who knows what it’s supposed to be? But, as of this writing, early Friday morning, five matches have been announced. Let’s make a few predictions.
AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May vs “Timeless” Toni Storm w/ Luther.
This is arguably the best story in AEW right now. Yeah, it involves multiple personalities and Tits out, but it makes more sense than any of that Death Riders crap. It should be a good match. I smell a title switch.
Winner and NEW AEW Women’s Champion: Timeless Toni Storm.
AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada vs Buddy Matthews.
It’s good to see Buddy getting some of the spotlight and a shot at some gold. I’m sure Mami is happy. But too bad it’s only a shot. Look for Okada to cheat, pull a few shenanigans, and retain, bitch!
Winner and STILL AEW Continental Champion: Kazuchika Okada.
‘Switchblade’ Jay White and Cope vs Death Riders (Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli) w/ Marina Shafir in a Brisbane Brawl.
At this point, does anyone even really care? It’ll be a crazy mess. Blood will be rampant. And Moxley and Caludio will win.
Winners: The Death Riders.
Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega vs The Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita).
Another chaotic brawl, but this one somewhat makes sense. Okay, I’m lying. It’s about as dumb as the other stories. But at least Omega and Ospreay are talented wrestlers. Look for Ospreay and Omega to win to keep the fans happy.
Winners: Will Ospreay & Kenny Omega.
AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné vs Harley Cameron.
Harley has been fun to watch in the build for this. Rapping with a dummy? Well, I’ve seen worse. Harley is entertaining, but as a wrestler, is she even near the level or experience of Mercedes? Mercedes has destroyed her credibility with her run as the CEO, but she’s still capable of being a good wrestler. Harley is a good talker but has yet to show any impressive wrestling skills.
Winner and STILL TBS Champion: Mercedes Moné.
And, after checking out the internet early this morning, Friday, I see that AEW will also be doing a joint ROH event, AEW ROH Global Wars: Australia, as part of the same show. So, more matches means more predictions. There are four matches announced as of this writing.
The Learning Tree (Chris Jericho, Big Bill, and Brian Keith) versus The Outrunners & Bandido.
This might be a fun match to see. Expect a lot of cheesiness and comedy, but it won’t be boring. Look for the Learning Tree to get the win, and if you’re not down with that, guess what? You just made the list, stupid idiot!
Winners: The Learning Tree (Chris Jericho, Big Bill, and Brian Keith).
ROH Women’s Champion Athena versus Alex Windsor.
The streak continues. Look for Athena to win and retain her title.
Winner and STILL ROH Women’s Champion: Athena.
ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty versus Robbie Eagles.
Who the hell is Robbie Eagles? The name is familiar, but still. Okay, I had to Wiki the name. He’s a former ROH guy who has worked with New Japan, plus is a local Aussie talent. So, Eagles is brought in to keep the local audience happy. Good for him. Moriarty is keeping his belt.
Winner and STILL ROH Pure Champion: Lee Moriarty.
ROH Tag Team Champions Sammy Guevera & Dustin Rhodes versus MxM Collection.
So this is where Dustin and Sammy are hanging out these days? Dustin just had a great match with MJF, and has now traveled across the world for this. And Sammy, bring back the VLOG crew. MxM is a talented team and this could be a good match, but does anyone expect to see a title switch here? Bring back Rico or we riot. Look for the champs to retain.
Winners and STILL ROH Tag Team Champions: Sammy Guevera & Dustin Rhodes.
And there you go. If more matches are added, and you know that there will be, I’ll update this with more predictions if possible. Thanks for reading. What are your predictions? Let me know, along with any thoughts, comments, or questions, at Doug28352@yahoo.com. And I guess that’s all for now. I’ll talk to you later.
